I know that neurosurgery encompasses quite a range of diseases and conditions (brain tumors, neurological disorders, disc bulges, radiculapathy, etc.).

I have pretty bad sciatic pain that has gone up and down for years amid multiple surgeries and every kind of PT and drug. Pain is still there and the new neurosurgeons I've seen just blow me off and give me some new shitty muscle relaxer that is useless.

Are there any that specialize in nerve damage or nerve conditions?

In the off chance you are legit....I occasionally get a bad migraine/sharp pain in my head (varies but mostly at the base of my head where it meets the neck and also like a section behind either eye) and it is triggered by a sneeze, cough, or sometimes during sex. Should I be worried? Some backround I think is relevant is that I have played football from pop warner through college (and other contact sports) and I'm worried it might be related to essentially being in a minor car accident for many days in a row for years. It's just such a debilitating pain that it worries me...like hair pulling pain that leads to just feeling exhausted and out of it...thanks anon

Thanks for the reply.

I don't want more surgery, I just want the pain to be stopped or managed. I could go to pain management, but I know that isn't a solution and will involve some drugs or shots.

I'll keep with the PT and drug plan I'm on now, but it hasn't resulted in any change over the past year.

I'm 95% certain there is no current fix for my unique problem, based on dealing with this for 5 years. Is it possible that I just have permanent damage and the pain will never go away? I'm not asking for a diagnosis, just if permanent pain is possible from compression.

nah. the rads report probably said something about "csf collection" or pseudomeningocele" or some such. if the surgery was years ago and nothing is leaking through the skin, don't sweat that. the question is if there was any abnormal enhancement at the area of tumor resection. if none, you're doing ok, anon.

look up 'phrenology' to see how people have tried to sort that shit out
grossly, meaning macro scale, there's typically not an obvious difference (look up phineas gage for an exception)(pic related)
micro scale, people have tried to attribute variations from the norm to explain deviant behavior of different flavors

I really really like my own farts. Like to the point where it's becoming a growing concern. I dont even give a fuck about personal space or if people can hear them or they smell bad. They just amuse me.

For example yesterday I was at a show and i cut a real nasty one right before the set and I could see the look on the faces of people around me that they could smell it (although it was crowded so I'm not sure if they even noticed it was me). I was so elated I almost got hard.

I even drank like 1/2 a gallon of milk today just so I could change up the smell from my normally protein-induced farts to something more exotic.

Does this mean my brain is broken?

but essential vs PD is not a tough one
if you don't have insurance, get that shit before it becomes unobtainable for 'pre-existing conditions'

usually surgery, while effective, is reserved for problems refractory to medication (meds no longer work)

unless two docs have told you (never believe one if it's big news) there is irreversible damage and the current pain will be permanent, i'd take it one day at a time. if you haven't seen pain docs yet, may be worth a visit. they sometimes have cocktails to recommend that won't necessarily have unwelcome side effects

first: new barber
second: see a good neurologist. if you are not getting relief with your current doc, get another opinion. no need to suffer if there's another option to explore. cluster headaches suck, but sadly surgery doesn't offer relief. hope it gets better, anon

>>720044518
have you seen a neurosurgeon yet? if they're already calling it idiopathic, they've presumable ruled out trauma and any enhancing lesion (did they do gadolinium with the MRI?) that could be causing it. in that case, you may live to be 100y and never suffer any problems from the radiographic finding. most important: stay aware of how the legs/bowel/bladder function change (or not) over time. no change? no worries. just don't ignore it, anon. good luck

I did these cases in residency but since it's best addressed by an expert, i don't do them currently. literature supports the view that there is a criminal delay in getting people surgery that can enable seizure-free (or at least improved) lives.
starts with the primary, then the neurologist, then the neurosurgeon, neuropsych, perhaps a stay in the EMU after grid/depth electrodes are placed (pic related). the first step is to ask the question and be the squeaky wheel. you may not benefit from surgery, but it's best to make some noise getting an answer so you know your options. good luck

sorry to hear that, anon. shit sucks. hope you are spending time with family and getting some fresh air.
truth: there's no prevention that's bullet proof.
the one saving grace is that, as tough as it is for the family and loved ones, in most cases the person suffering the strokes is unaware of all the shit that's going on.

i have slipped discs in my lumbar area.

what should i do about it?

should i get a shot or surgery? they say no but i dont want to be in pain or weak for the rest of my life.

also can it make my leg walk all gay and like give out?

my neurosurgeon says it cant be from my back, well i didnt hurt my leg and its still doing it 2 months later.

For years I've suffered from what I think is depression combo'd with Anxiety; I always feel detached from my body and that I'm not here fully.

I also feel a constant pressure in my head, top forward part of the brain (frontal lobe?) and it's almost like i want to itch my brain kind of feeling.

I've put it down to anxiety and what the internet tells me (parathesia etc) but there is always a scary feeling that I have a tumor or some shit.

hope it all resolves

>>720045330
anon, you're worried you got a seed up in your shit. now you want to go digging solo? bad call. if it's getting worse/painful/infected/draining, the way to accelerate the process is to go to the ER. anticipate a bill, but if you're worried about your health it's well worth it.

you are the one that needs to wake up every morning and do what you do

most important is you, anon
is it affecting you in an appreciable way
MRIs are basically magic, x-ray vision, but you need to be measured in your reaction to them. they can reveal things that are pre-existing and asymptomatic, and essentially need no follow-up or treatment.
discuss it with your doc. if you're unsatisfied with their explanation/plan, ask for a second opinion.
you could live to be 100y and take that fucker to your grave.
don't sweat it, anon; just don't ignore it.

>>720046166
anon. cmon. don't be that guy that shows up to the ER with a spoon stuck up his nose. how long has that shit been there? if it's stable, be patient. if it's getting worse, see if you can get an earlier appt. if you're really worried, go to the ER.

it's not about the 'slipped discs' described by rads
it's about how you feel and is there a structural explanation that can be improved by surgery
