Which sometimes leads them to have good grades and skills in certain fields, since they're just told to study and work and they do it without question. No, not all. In fact most atheist simply replace religion with political ideology or some other form. If you think failed arguments are logical and equal to good and valid arguments then you have no other option but to be a theist. After all, who wouldn't love the idea of having somebody omnipotent take care of them? -On top of that you have to understand chaotic nature of the world, general morale and decission making taking place in all humans, and how you are not unique from perspective of biological evolution or astronomy. Infact, you have to understand that nothing is truly unique in the sense as described by religion. Because all of that being fit together with the claim that there's an omnipotent being puppeteering this show makes no sense. It takes analytical mindset and pondering to end up in the conclusion that either there is no god or he is not what we expect of him. It's a different matter to end in the conclusion because somebody has indoctrinated you, but then again most people are indoctrinated to be theists. In which case we would be AI agents being studied and when we die if we are considered to be beneficent AIs we are promoted to a new simulation and given more power.

Right now you're ignoring the fact that religion was and still is a tool of power. It's not so long ago when it was the norm for people to be religious. Before that it was heresy to believe in anything else, and as you know heresy was often punishable by death. Being religious wasn't a choice; it was mandatory. Eventually the people in power seperated science from religion -- make no mistake, it wasn't because that was the morally sound choice but because it was more efficient and functional. Religion and sciences for most of europe were the one and same. ie. you could not be a medical doctor without having a degree in theology. One of the biggest events which set course for change was the black plague.

Even today social, economic and educational standing does determine your potential to invent anything new but less so than previously. And most importantly we no longer need to point every single thing to god -- unlike back in the day.
