To anyone who thinks you need to distribute the 2:

2( 1 + 2 ) is the same as 2 x ( 1 + 2 ). The only reason you would use foil method is if inside the parenthesis there is a variable and you need to solve for the variable. For example:

2(1+W)...... Since you can't solve 1 + W only THEN you would use the foil method and distribute and get 2x1+2xW. Since there is is no variable inside the parenthesis there is no reason to use the foil method. Did you motherfuckers not take algebra class or what? You only use foil when solving for variables, in which this case there is none so you simply add 1 + 2 and then work the entire problem left to right to get:
