I'm not happy

I always give the people who always seem super happy in public a little nod. Not one that people would think anything of, just a small one, showing that I know. The ones who make others happy are the unhappiest. Robin Williams is a good example. He always acted upbeat and happy in his acting, but when nobody was looking he was miserable. I encourage others to give people that small nod to tell them they're not alone and you understand.

I just recently got back surgery. I thought a long break was what I needed to collect my thoughts and get myself back on track. Now that I have that, why aren't I happy? It's all I've wanted, and I'm still just as miserable as ever. A break hasn't helped me collect my thoughts, and if anything I'm just more bored because there's only so far you can think until you reach the conclusion that life is meaningless and the only reason I do it is for my family.

It fucking sucks, it really does. Especially when you have to remind someone whom you've looked up to even more than your own parent, and remind them five times a day about something.

There's times when it gets frustrating, very frustrating. Hearing the same stories over and over again, having to explain the same thing constantly. After a time, it begins to wear on you, and not many people seem to realize that. Something you explained a half-hour ago could be forgotten and asked again, ad infinitum.

He does remember people, and I make sure to keep him in check when it comes to those closest to him. His sons, and his Grandchildren, myself included. Never once is there a day, like in the screencap, where he isn't staring at the picture of my long deceased Grandmother. It's been so many years, yet he's still hung tough.

I'm living with my grandmother, grandfather, and my mom right now. My grandfather has Alzheimer's too. This shit really hits home man. He'll walk into my room all the time not knowing where he is, he'll always say the same things when talks about the cats or the dog, and sometime's he'll take me into his study where he keeps all of his old antiques and military keepsakes. He'd tell me about this little drummer toy that would wake him up on Christmas Day every time. He'd show me this aluminum tractor that he kept from his grandmother, and he's got so many other things that he loves to talk about. He talks about this farm that his grandfather used to own up in Pennsylvania, he always mentions that one.

I'm just glad he's living 1,000 miles away in his head, he's happy with his family.

I'm not living with my grandparents, but my step-grandfather is in his late 80's and he has it too. They married way before I was born, so he's like a 3rd grandfather. It's really sad to see him like this. He always tells me about stories of being a teenager in Liverpool during WW2. He always tells the same stories, but he seems so happy to share them so I always act like it's the first time I'm hearing it. During our get together she will wander into the guest bedroom at night and think it's his. It always makes me pretty sad for him because his bedroom is on the bottom floor and the guest bedroom is up a set of stairs. He can barely walk so it takes him 15 minutes to get down with help.
