That's some shit man, I'm sorry to hear that. Life just isn't fair for a lot of us. I'm a 21 year old college student here, living in an apartment and working a shitty grocery store job. Didn't get to go home for the holidays because I have to pay my own rent, phone bill, car insurance, and buy my own groceries. Meanwhile both of my roommates got to go home and spend the holidays actually living life because they don't have to pay for shit thanks to mommy and daddy. But god forbid I ever complain to them about anything, because then they think I'm an asshole. I'm not where you are man, you've got it far worse. But it looks like I'll be heading that way in not too long myself. Is there any way you can find yourself another job that would need someone with your experience?

I don't have kids, but i have been the brokest of broke where I have literally had to steal food, not even pennies to my name, or anything to sell/pawn.
I know how it is, and my philosophy in those situations is always priorities before luxuries.
Limit your frivolous outgoing, sell/pawn luxurious material things that are not essential to survival (or future benefit) and soldier on until the situation changes via effort, luck or fate.
In most cases, it is never as bad as one thinks, just notusing a "survival" mentality and being acustomed

Look man, some friendly advice.
this system we are born in is a poverty trap, it is designed to entrap us and keep us in debt. Obviously so we blindly keep working and "doing what we are told"
So with this you gotta play the game, electric, phone, water etc, they expect you to be paying in debt, not in credit so let the bills go on as long as you need, even if they take you to court, start a payment plan after.
Food is obviously the most top priority (not over running water though) and rent second, idk what country you live in but im in euro too and here legally you have to be in 2 month rent arrears before the landlord can even apply to get you evicted, let alone how long it would take for the proceedings to be done.
Just have a friendly conversation with the landlord, tell him you are having financial issues and will either have to skip rent or give less for the next few months. landlords are normally pretty cool as long as you are straight and don't try to dodge them for rent.
Again priorities before luxuries.
With whatever you money you have, you buy the cheapest, but healthy food, and spend the rest doing what you need to do looking for a new job..
it is shit, I know, but everything is impermanent, good time, bad time, wealth, poverty, it all fluctuates
