I went the sign path. Honestly didn't use quen til the end of the game nearly. Once you get igni to burn the shit out of things, it's basically game over. The bosses unaffected by burn were a horrible attrition-based bitch. I feel like swords is probably the best path to go overall.

In my experience, sign playstyle has a strong beginning game that trails off toward the end. Which the hardest part of the game is just starting off so it worked perfectly for me especially when you're playing death march.

Naturally. I try to focus my decks on control and synergy, speed and strength are so boring to work with. I tend to have one or two particular strengths in a deck, a particular special rule that stacks and works along with all the other rules. I aim for a generally good and versatile build that's not overkill until I get to mid-game. I'm still undecided on some of the planeswalkers I use. They're alright, but I'm still not quite feeling it, some of them don't sync as well as I'd like with the other cards I use.

Yes, savouring their despair as you either take control, remove or make obsolete anything they might throw at you.

Control is where it's at. It's just a shame I can't get it rolling right most times before I annihilate the opponent. Planeswalkers are this relatively new element introduced to MTG. I think they came around about 5 years or so ago. They come into the field with a number of loyalty counters on them, in effect, their life. You use one of their abilities once a turn, like sorceries, and they have an effect that does something and it either adds or subtracts loyalty counters from that planeswalker, depending on the effect. Personally I never liked them, but some of them work really well with certain themes so I've taken to using them.

The only thing I really haven't found a good counter to is hexproof. That shit is just whack.

Yeah, MTG has changed over the years. More for worse than better imo. It used to be you had to invest in removal and create a balance between control, speed and strength. You had to actually plan out your deck and make sacrifices to implement a particular tactic. Nowadays it just seems like a race of arms instead a game of strategy.

Hexproof means the creature cannot be targeted by spells or abilities opponents control, very nasty on a 7/6 creature with trample if your deck isn't tailored against that.
