Hello friends, I've been monitoring this thread and rather enjoying the back and forth.

I, however, would like to clarify some things for those who are legitimately interested in Cluster B personality disorders. I was diagnosed in late 2014 with Borderline Personality Disorder with Anti-social Personality Disorder tenancies.

Psychopathy isn't considered a disorder in either the DSM IV or the DSM V. Psychopathy is a diagnostic criteria for Cluster B PDs, which means it's more of a symptom.

To clarify some misconceptions of psychopathy:
Psychopaths DO feel emotion, including empathy, but rather process it differently. Unlike in an average brain empathy is not an automated emotion; to think of it simply empathy is turned on by default and for a psychopath to experience it they must make it an active decision. This misconception comes from old-shoddy research from the 70's before we had any understanding of personality disorders.

Being psychopathic does NOT give you the desire to kill people, it just means if you happen to, you won't feel bad about it.

It is very rare for someone with Anti-Social Personality Disorder to lead any sort of normal life without behavior therapy. It's common for them to alienate those around them. The "Charismatic Serial Killer" archetype we all love in the movies is simply not the standard. It is very rare for a person of this persuasion to be socially adept.

There is no standardized test for Psychopathy. The indication of an overactive amygdala and an under-active prefrontal cortex is a small inconclusive indicator of Cluster B personality disorders. I myself was diagnosed after about 6 months of doctor visits and almost a year of psychiatric evaluation.

I hope this was informative for everyone.
