You... you realize that the entire reason Steam exists is DRM, right? The reason Steam gets to offer such good prices and why they're given a near monopoly on digital distribution is because Steam forces you to run intrusive DRM in order to play any of the games you purchase. Without the always-on DRM, Steam wouldn't exist.

All those BSODs were the result of memory leaks. If you had a decent memory manager -- and since 95 and 98 were practically unusable without one -- then BSODs were a fairly rare occurrance.

And kernel panics is all you got from "Unix" in the 90s.
"apple OS" was also not modern in any sense of the word in the 90s. They were still peddling an OS with cooperative multitasking (meaning any application could lock up the whole system by simply getting stuck in a loop) and hacked on color support. It wasn't until Apple bought Steve Jobs' other company and re-branded NeXTSTEP that Apple had the most modern desktop OS again.

Windows is literally garbage now. The best thing it had going for it was market dominance, which led to more exclusive software.

The reality is that there is very little you can do on Windows that every other OS doesn't do as well or better. The one exception being gaming, but directx is finally starting to take a hit.

Every browser has security vulnerabilities. It's not rocket science.

Just read some of the features of commercial analytics and tracking tools. It's not even funny.

And that's the one that openly available to novice end users. The real IT companies build their own analytics tools which is more tailored. Also different devices are tracked in different ways, but usually can be placed in a particular network or opinions which makes track8ng all the more easy. That coupled with machine learning algos, u are tracked very persistently.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux,
is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.
Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component
of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell
utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day,
without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU
which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are
not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a
part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system
that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run.
The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself;
it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is
normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system
is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux"
distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

What you say is true. I do know that. Just a more common expression of calling gnu , Linux.

The way most Linux distros have sudo set up is honestly worse than the way Windows works.

TOR is mostly used by criminals. Everyone who uses it puts a target on them. Like it or not.
>>
>>716897334
Unless it is for server use..most sudo implementations are just supposed to "work".

Besides with some selinux c9nfigs and it filter rules you should out secure any windows and/Mac systems by leaps and bounds. Atleast for personal use. As far as servers go.. well thats a different ball game

They don't.
>>

Nah, sudo is usually set up to just hand root over to you. Windows under normal circumstances will only give you Administrator, which is still lower than System (the closest analog to root in Windows).
