Because the concept of old and newfags has long since stopped mattering. The site has such high traffic that there's not really any cohesive culture we can get mad at new people for not getting. If you take a few months break and come back you've probably missed something that someone else thinks is integral to the experience of /b/.

Basically what I miss is the way we had a sort of zeitgeist, a collective unconscious and it was reasonable to assume that everyone was on the same page if they started browsing around the same time.
