Yes, there are certainly problems with the way people interpret religion. If my replies have not already indicated so: my style of teaching and learning is much less rigid than traditional practice. I cannot make the people who attend your church less bigoted. I simply cannot. I can, however, encourage you to pursue worship in spite of the actions of your local churchgoers. One does not have to read the Bible every night before bed to be religious. I ask that you act in whatever way you believe to be moral, and just. Then you will truly be adhering to God's will.

Yes, I completely agree with you. Religion is an individual affair. Adhering to strict codes isn't what's important, it's finding what works for you and sticking with it. What works for me is the word of God. It provides me with hope and inspires me to be the best human I can be. What works for you may be completely different, and I respect that. Remember that in making this thread I didn't want religion to be the topic of discussion (perhaps I shouldn't have included the remark about being a priest). I simply wanted it to be an open time for those in need to speak their minds and receive advice and guidance.

I am unsure of what you think is right for your daughter, but sometimes strengthening one's own beliefs is what is most important. Your child is still formulating her own opinions about the world.
