Don't get over it, if you don't like that trump won take some initiative and start watching his every move and formulating argumentsthat can withstand scrutiny and opposition.

Lurk moar, phaggot.

Read. Change peoples minds if you can. Learn their rationale and the reasoning behind their support. Try to understand who we're dealing with.

And strap in, pussy, because they're going to make America great again and from what I've seen that means something different to every single one of his voters. You better start figuring this shit out.

It's too late to change the channel.

You're on the wrong board to try and actually inform people. This one is infested with ignorant trumpanzees that will defend his racism, homophobia and Islamophobia no matter how bad it gets. The mere fact he didn't even actually win the election doesn't matter to them, shows just how bad the system in this country is.
>>
>>716656706
Take it easy. German/Russian cross. Just curious
>>
>>716657503

But he did in fact win the election by the rules in place. The same system that has been in place for hundreds of years is the one that confirmed that he was the winner.
>>
>>716654063
Honestly this is democracy. The people gets the leadership it deserves. When the people are disjointed by demagogues and propagandists, you don't control them so you gotta let them spin out. You need to let natural selection rebalance property, long term investment and judicial status.
The best you could hope for, if you want genuine progress, is to let them be a cautionary tale to future generations who, fingers crossed, will catch up with the rest of the world.

It's like with how Brexit has thusfar already displaced well over 1mn jobs from the UK to the opposite side of the north sea.
Was it a gut-based reaction that sweepingly demolished Britain's economic strategic position and legal framework? Yes. Does it matter? No. Can it be changed? Lolno.
But what you can do is let them run themselves with objectively nobody else to blame while capital and talent gets displaced. Once their bullshit doesn't hold up anymore like Farage sabotaging the income of British workers and suddenly not delivering on his mad promises of reverting 70 years of global economic development, and when an illuminati conspiracy *does* appear to be a childlike interpretation of public institutions that gives people something to blame for their personal problems - and after the parliaments on the mainland are done celebrating the influx of jobs, tax revenue and capital from investors fleeing to a less volatile jurisdiction with longevity, that *doesn't* render their business obsolete, then we can either let the results speak for themselves, or when that invariably still doesn't take, let the results rebalance wealth and power at least.

Although, come to think of it, the US does have the electoral college. Bypassing the democratic process in its entirety.
Seems a little cliche to be invoking it after Trump got elected. But that's an older discussion I've raised issues with for 16 years. Regardless, it's not something you will be fixing anytime soon, so deal with it.

Not sure what you're going to do with it. I don't see a man elected by the EC in spite of the people, abolishing the EC. Even if he could, which he couldn't.
Of course his supporters will erroneously point to "it being a republic" as some justification for the introduction of a second, higher class of citizen with executive veto, but when the DNC comes back the protest will switch sides. This kind of drama is always partisan in the US, it's why nothing ever gets done. Any longterm investments will be killed within 4 years, 8 years tops. Nevermind unilateral revisions to your government.
There's too much hooliganism in American culture towards politics. You're sourcing your tax administration to people who would set fire to their own house to protest the choice of wallpaper.

The 1mn figure was reached with announcements by players like BMW a couple weeks back.
Capital flight was floated as a potential problem pre-brexit due to multinationals using Brexit because it's a gateway to the EU jurisdiction in the first place.
Once Goldman Sachs and all left it seemed to be becoming a thing.
After BMW and a bunch of other manufacturers, yeah, they're done for. Politicians in EU countries were cheering like Palestinians when the IDF takes a hit. Not out of spite, but they're having fat stacks dumped on them.

That's where tens of millions of illegal aliens live you mean.

Thinking that a population of between 11 and 30 million illegal aliens aren't going to register to vote in a place where it's illegal to make them show ID to do so is naive at best.

We're worried that Russia is influencing our elections but don't care that Mexicans and South/Central Americans who are not citizens are registering and voting in large numbers. Makes perfect sense.

>I notice that you didn't touch the subject of economic migrants.
Didn't need touching. Nobody's getting sent back, in fact the migrants primarily taken issue with don't come in through the EU at all. On top of that, regardless of who works the job, that's still a shitload of tax revenue. You're also vastly overestimating their impact, and most of all, you're not downsizing the workforce, you're downsizing the work.
And until you start adding footnotes, stop with the asinine "citation needed" for continental events that have gone through 6 months of intensive publication. Just because you don't bother to so much as google something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. These firms have all made nervewracking public statements on this because sooner rather than later they had to answer to shareholders who got cold feet over their business model being invalidated by Britain's new legal disposition.

Frankly the best thing the UK government could do right now is send those workers after the jobs, and pay for the migration of the affected UK citizens to Germany/France/NL. They're gonna take a big hit on tax revenue, they don't need to also be dealing with a shitload of extra unemployed people they can't do anything with, the impact on local commerce is going to be bad enough as it is.
EU can take these people on. It's already seeing an obscene profit in local business and taxes, and frankly I don't think it can fill that many positions. These Brits would, ironically enough, be economic refugees, but they could still have their old job while ironically be living in a more stable economy.

>We need to end the electroral college once and for all.
Consider this: if we had abolished the electoral college prior to the election, what would Trump have done? He would have run a campaign aimed at winning the popular vote. He would have mobilized voters in Texas, and in the South. He would have spent loads of time in rural California. He would have bought national ads. And people who otherwise decided not to vote, despite supporting Trump, would have voted. Do you think Trump voters in CA or NY were at all motivated to go vote? Not at all. But if it was the popular vote that was needed, they surely would have, and there would have been millions more Trump voters.

TL;DR: Trump ran a campaign based on the rules of the election. He won the election fairly. It is over, stop crying about it.

Being someone who actually lives in California, I can attest to how shady this state has become. We've never been so blue. The government employee unions have setup quite the apparatus in this state and it is easy as fuck to vote as many times as you want. This election, I attempted to vote twice and succeeded. I also now a few people who harvest absentee ballots so that they can vote D all across the board. That's probably where a lot of those Hillary gains came from as the corruption in this state is beyond the pale.

The point of the electoral college is to prevent the mob rule of the country. If it didn't exist then only the voices would be of those of major cities such as New York, Detroit, and Chicago. Clearly you don't care about the power of an individual's voice, and there for freedom, unless they agree with your uninformed views. If you are going to trash something you need a full understanding of it so you don't look like an ignorant shit head when proven wrong.

Well a Trump presidency will be a riveting experiment, speaking as an outsiders who if anything should just profit from US instability, should it occur.
You had anti-establishment peeps, anarchs and conspiracy theorists switching to whoever is "not the incumbent" in every presidency. Bush got blamed for 9/11, Obama was a Kenyan muslim spy cause lolblack.
However, none of them ever campaigned on conspiracy theorists. Alex Jones and his crowd have the wheel now. Gonna be interesting to watch them deal with this infinite loop.
>>
>>716661462
In this case, Trump beat the media. That's how he won. He got campaign coverage worth well over a billion dollars for free. And the public, rightly, doesn't trust the media or people like Hillary... not that they should trust Trump, either.

If you knew anything about the US political system, you would know it's set up very well. It's just being perverted into a non-representative system. People with money decide the elections by funding the candidates. Trump is only a minor exception to this rule.

2.2 million is just the official statistics for foreign workers from within the EU. Of course the total number of migrants is going to be far higher. If they're not getting sent back you can blame Theresa May, who somehow got the top job despite being anti-brexit, not Nigel or anyone else who voted to get out. You also missed the fact that foreign workers, especially those from poor backgrounds, often have families overseas to whom they send money, money which will then not be going to British pockets, taxman or otherwise. So, while brexit may have downsized the work to some degree, if Theresa gets here head out of her arse she can downsize the workforce that much more, allowing actual Brits a fair shot at filling those vacancies, while removing people who *may* pay taxes, but also take benefits and often send money right out of the British economy.

>He blamed the discrepancies on the city’s decade-old voting machines, saying 87 optical scanners broke on Election Day. Many jammed when voters fed ballots into scanners, which can result in erroneous vote counts if ballots are inserted multiple times. Poll workers are supposed to adjust counters to reflect a single vote but in many cases failed to do so, causing the discrepancies, Baxter said.

>>716662317
No, not unless the EC was abolished. And I don't support this at all. The EC represents the number of representatives of each state. The majority of these are in the House, and they represent citizens directly. The rest of them are Senators, who represent the needs of their state, directly. Each state can decide how to divide up their total electoral votes, and it's their right to decide this for themselves (constitutionally, the Fed has no legal right to decide this).

This type of system is designed to allow states a good amount of autonomy. This prevents mob rule. And it prevents large, populated states from infringing on the rights of smaller, less populated states. For instance, California can't vote to seize water rights from Oregon, because they fucked up all their own resources. If we had a direct democracy, they could. And Oregon would lose.

In this system, a candidate could lose an election by a 20% margin in the popular vote, and it doesn't matter. But realistically, Trump didn't lose the popular vote by more than a coupe percent. And neither of them received a majority (over 50%). So there's nothing that abnormal about it.
>>

The statement that Trump won based off of racism is patently false because not only did he have to have minorities vote for him, but he also got the vote of people that voted for Obama, and I don't think that they suddenly turned racist in the past for years.

And saying that mob rule is only short hand for majority is also false, the term mob rule was used by the founding fathers to describe the purpose of the electoral college. Fear is understandable, after all both canadites were highly controversial, however if you are going to complain about a political structure, please have an understanding about its purpose before trying to destroy it.

Clinton did not get 4 million more votes. Subtract votes from illegals, the dead, voting machine "errors" and other sources of fraud and Trump did win the popular vote too. Subtract the cities in California and New York state and Trump won the popular vote. Trump one the popular vote in over 90% of the counties.

One form or another of the "electoral college" exists in almost all democracies specifically to prevent a handful of cities from controlling the rest of the country. Funny how there was never a problem with the electoral college before. Also funny how loosers like to change the rules after they play the game.

And no, you do not get to preemptively line up yet another copout because you're making decisions you didn't read through. May is doing a simple job of finishing a move that was terrible to begin with. She is not responsible for the UK's strategic market position, that position's role in Britain's growth since the formation of the EU, nor the fact that excusing Britain from that position negatively affects businesses that were attracted by and now depend on it.
You had a choice. You chose to cut off your income. You do not get to blame your puppet of the day when you then find yourself short on income.

>Even if it were based upon a popular vote, Trump would have just campaigned differentely, and STILL would have won.
That's just what Trump said because he's Trump and says shit like that. You don't know, we don't know, and Trump doesn't know.

In reality, here's what we get:
>Trump is the best reason for the Electoral College.
>Trump is the best reason against the Electoral College.

>You do not get to blame your puppet of the day when you then find yourself short on income.
Or you could, I suppose. Power to you and all that. Of course the only person it would hurt is you, and the longer you keep it up the more you hurt yourself. I think that like with a good drug addiction, you may have to go balls deep on this until you really get it out of your system. Fuck up really badly, an be that cautionary tale I alluded to initially.

Baggage, or Hillary-baggage? 'Cause one of those involves real things and can be overcome. The other involves being buried under a mountain of shit, 80% of which isn't true but has been perpetuated for so long that it might as well be.

You're allowed to hate Trump all you want. It won't change a thing. But all this post election shenanigans by the left, specifically trying to delegitimize his win, won't help them when the big proposals come forward. It's called political capital, and you guys are fighting the wrong fights to change public opinion at this point. Trying to do recounts blew up. Trying to influence electors was a fail. Bring up the electoral collage, no one cares. Micro-analyzing cabinet picks isn't a winner. Trust me.

I'll try to explain this simply to you. There are more foreign workers in Britain than jobs forecast to go. If Theresa does her job and boots all the foreign workers, Brits will end up gaining access to jobs held by them, reducing unemployment. If Theresa, someone who was against brexit, doesn't do her job, then it's not the brexit voters' fault, and yes, I do get to line up this "copout", because if she doesn't follow through on all counts, then it's not what brexit voters signed up for. It's like giving someone the wrong meal at a restaurant, and then blaming them when they don't like it.

He's as inauthentic as she is. He'll never get past the left flank in the Dem primary. Trust me, Booker is your guy. He's smoother than Obama, because he comes across as genuine. He's also a shit ton more persuasive than Newsome.

You're welcome to leave. In fact, get the fuck out.

I despise Trump, but this is how the political process works.

Trump destroyed Clinton by county, and the electoral college exists to balance large population centers with the rest of the country.

Maybe you should read a book, and walk away from the 4chins...

I'm actually humoring you on this. I'm just asking a followup question - how many of these migrant workers are employed by Goldman Sachs? How many make north of 150k a year and contribute income tax? What about the corp. tax and sales tax you're gonna be missing?
Also, you got a mass deportation lined up yet? I mean it doesn't really affect the above, but you're really insistent on it. Are those trains getting steamed up yet?

Ask the Repubs how well challenging Obama's cabinet picks went.

It's not about changing something, isn't it good practice to properly examine the picks at all?
What is it with Americans and political hooliganism?

I always thought the recounts were a silly idea and that the whole Electoral College thing was a pretty silly longshot, but I don't see the harm in reminding Trump that he's not the candidate most people voted for and his policies aren't going to be popular. He shouldn't ignore the voices of most of the country.

"Micro analyizing" his cabinet picks is exactly what we should do every time any president picks the people he surrounds himself with. They speak to the overall direction of the administration. I haven't complained about the election result once in this thread (outside of general distaste for the guy who won), so I don't see how any of this is whining.
>>
>>716668278
This is a really misleading graphic that I've seen around. The faithless electors who wrote in Colin Powell did so in order to legitimize the system and Republican victory, but not the candidate himself. They wrote in someone they respected, and it was a clear protest.

He sees the same thing that we do. If California was taken off the map, he wins the popular vote. This will of the people stuff, won't mean anything January 20th.

And that will go about as well the Repubs doing it to Obama. When the Dems waste their juice on fighting picks that will eventually go through anyway, that won't have enough political capital left for the Obamacare fight that will surely happen right afterwards. But go right ahead, keep on doing what you guys are doing. I love seeing history repeat itself when my side wins.

Really, it didn't matter. But they wouldn't have written in McCain because he was the Republican nominee for president against the current president. Kinda looks bad.

He's the president. He get's to pick the cabinet. Most Americans don't care about all that.

The Dems should be cleaning house and biding there time. They are going to get creamed in the midterms if they don't. They might be facing a Repub senate supermajority, if they go full stupid out the gate.

That's not a good thing.

I will continue to disagree anytime I see something I don't agree with. You fight against the HHS pick *because* he opposes Obamacare. "Political capital" isn't a quantifiable "resource" to be handed out or reserved.
>>
>>716669521
>Most Americans don't care about all that.
They should. They elected him to do this.
Voting without examining the nuanced policy of your pick is like handling foreign policy with twitter memes instead of intel briefings. It's going to end in tears.

If he fucks up, it's too late. Saying "I told you so" might feel good, but it doesn't solve anything.

You're actually telling me that I should just be quiet and go along with Trump, no matter how I feel about him. I guess /pol/ was just dead quiet for all of Obama's presidency...
