doesnt have as much of the original star wars "magic" but i think thats impossible to recreate. its a good backstory to a new hope and they tie it together at the end really well. the cameos didnt feel forced into the movie and it was fun to see some familiar characters. vader has only 2 scences and nobody can deny how literally awesome he is in them. the main characters arent well developed and seem just to be there to push the plot along, but lets be honest nobody really wanted to watch the movie for them anyway. the cinematography was different than any other star wars movie and i personally liked it more than how star wars usually if filmed - it felt more like a war movie. i think because you cant recreate that "magic" of watching space battles for the first time and learning about the force and jedis, it fit perfectly for a "spinoff" of the saga. also, the presence of the force and jedis is basically non-existent in this movie, which is more refreshing than it is disappointing.

I haven't seen any Star Wars movie. Am I really missing out?

I want to see new Star Trek. Not Reboot Star Trek, which is following the exact same philosophy as new Star Wars. 100% rehash.

Star Trek has TOS, TNG, DS9 - all great series. VOY and ENT have redeeming qualities but suffer mainly due to casting choices (in my opinion).

Star Trek still has life. I'm looking forward to Star Trek Discovery, which is set in the Prime timeline, no rehash trek involved.

a friend was supposed to bring some weed but apparently but not surprisingly he was so lit he forgot about the movie and we didn't have anything to smoke on. Good thing is, I understood what was going on (this friend had seen it before and wanted to watch it again because he was too smoked).

Movie was pretty good, ending 5/7, the scene in which Jyn and Cassian die is basically the ending from Melancholia, blaster fights weren't like Episode 4/5, and some silly characters don't fit that well (basically the dudes that were protecting the temple in Jedha, Saw to some extent, and the imperial pilot's role was too big IMO), it had much more humor than other star wars movies, and it had no lightsaber fighting scenes, which considering how they were in episode 7 we're lucky there were none).

Pretty boring movie overall. The Darth Vader scene at the end may be the best scene out of any Star Wars movie, so it's worth it to watch just for that.

Clone Troopers have heavier armour that can take multiple hits so you can keep fighting. The Empire discarded that doctrine and sided for lighter armour that dissipates the energy of one hit to a level that knocks the Storm Troopers unconscious after one hit. Best thing about this film was that they resisted the temptation to force a love story. Was on edge at the beach scene thinking they were about to ***finally!!!*** realise their love for each other and kiss but thankfully they just hugged it out like pals. Saved the franchise

A super fan did a full analysis of clones vs storm troopers from every movie, comic, tv show, novel etc and essentially described the clones as expendable elites who's armour lets them get hit until they eventually die.

He also found somewhere in the lore where stormtroopers follow a mass assault doctrine where there's a high volume of low skill soldiers but since they're not clones and are actually recruited the empire considers their lives to be actually valuable. Basically every gun fight you see in Star Wars is every rebel looking like a sniper because they can hit pretty much anywhere on the storm trooper (except for glancing blows) and he'll go down
