Grant understood the strategy needed to defeat the south.

Sherman implemented the tactics to do so. He was the first to understand the concept of total war.

He was the "best" because he employed slash and burn tactics all throughout the southwest, mainly Georgia. It was an incredibly effective and destructive, taking out a lot of important ammo caches and even large civilian cities and farms. It devastated the south and was definitive in the Norths victory, but that doesn't stop him from being a coward and shit pile for killing so many civilians without even thinking twice about it.

It was general basement dwelling brony neckbeard of the SJW faggot revolution of Portland following the 2016 revolution. He managed to mobilize a small army on the downtown and didn't lose a single soldier even though he also didn't kill a single enemy. He is still the only civil war general who did not lose a single man or woman during the entire campaign.

It was then 4 A.M. Captain James at once aroused his command, and arranged to carry out the order. He was a great admirer of Roger A. Pryor, and said to him, 'You are the only man to whom I would give up the honor of firing the first gun of the war'; and he

Fort Sumter after the battle

offered to allow him to fire it. Pryor, on receiving the offer, was very much agitated. With a husky voice he said, 'I could not fire the first gun of the war.' His manner was almost similar to that of Major Anderson as we left him a few moments before on the wharf at Fort Sumter. Captain James would allow no one else but himself to fire the gun.

The boat with the aides of General Beauregard left Fort Johnson before arrangements were complete for the firing of the gun, and laid on its oars, about one-third the distance between the fort and Sumter, there to witness the firing of 'the first gun of the war' between the States. It was fired from a ten-inch mortar at 4:30 A.M., April 12th, 1861. Captain James was a skillful officer, and the firing of the shell was a success. It burst immediately over the fort, apparently about one hundred feet above.

I'm not saying any of that isn't true.
The facts are no one knows who fired the first shot at Fort Sumter, it could've been either side.
The south did lose and I'm glad they did or we wouldn't have benefited from the TVA and we'd still have no power and have to shit in an outhouse.

The South was going to lose no matter who was leading them. They cut off the Confederate supply line (trains). The troops were already starving to death which is why they gave up so easily. The Confederacy could sustain itself long term, as long as their railroads were still operational. Without a way to transport supplies from state to state however...

How many civilians did his army kill? What proportion were on his orders, and what proportion were soldiers running amok? Use numbers. Please cite your answer.

Jackson held a lifelong belief that one of his arms was longer than the other, and thus usually held the "longer" arm up to equalize his circulation. He was described as a "champion sleeper", and even fell asleep with food in his mouth, occasionally. A paper presented to theSociety of Clinical Psychologistshypothesized that Jackson hadAsperger syndrome,[54]although other possible explanations, such as a herniated diaphragm, exist.[55] -Wiki
