The Hellraiser is nothing like an Omen, for what it is worth. You should try one. There were several lower end models that came out that were just lame compared to the upper end stuff.

Hellraiser on a switchblade is a match made in heaven for metal guitar or lead.

If you buy a Fender or a Gibson you better do a shit load of research first. Its about the factories they are made in. Also don't fall for that shit like "american made" or "mexican made" blanket statement shit. Find the exact information. There are tons of resources online. Just google it. Also Gibson and Fender are probably the worst pieces of gear to buy period unless its from specific time frames. Overpriced garbage. You're paying for a look. If you want something made by someone who cared you need to look into smaller companies. There are plenty out there. Also "mass produced junk" a modern ESP you guy from a shit hole store like Guitar Center is probably better than any SG ever.
>>
Play a fender highway one strat or 1968 framus caravelle into an orange rockerverb mki 50w with matching 2x12 usually. Then also have a 100w blackstar ht100 with matching 4x12 for blistering metal at loud volumes.
Not to even get into the pedals, sounds great on its own.

>>
>>715884161
Only because of your subjective obsession with it. Of course you who made an emotional attachment to it love it. Look at all the "greats" half of them play trash. You can take a 100 dollar squier and a line 6 amp and with enough time and attention make it sound good. Doesn't mean shit. Its about the curve that goes with it. That SG is a piece of shit on the standards of actually well made instruments. That thing when it was made was inferior to most guitars. Its your investment in it that makes it good. But you can buy better guitars that take less investment that can be better. Also I am a musician. I have played professionally. I repair guitars. Don't act like you're special cucko.

I'm the one with the '67 Mustang. I can tell you a pretty goddamn good history of that particular line. The '67 is noted as being one of the best years that line was ever produced. Rock solid electronics, great wood, great necks. I knew what I wanted and did research. I found that guitar in a small shop in Boston back in the 2000s.

The G&L is probably my least favorite actually. The neck is lacquered and huge so it's not very fast, but it has a TON of tonal range which is cool and the B string is probably the best sounding of any bass I've ever played. I've been thinking about letting it go lately... not playing as much as I used to. It's just so pretty it's hard to imagine parting with it.

Awesome, I've found that the pickups sound interesting enough on mine. Haven't had it very long. Bought it early this year to be honest but don't plan on letting go of it.
Framus was a cool company before it went under because, if I remember correctly, they made all their own hardware and electronics instead of outsourcing.
Seen a lot of acoustic framus guitars around, haven't demoed any of them. Though based on the ones I have tried, they are truly a brand that flies under the radar underappreciated.

Shitty distortion pedals on an amp like that are cringy though.

You're right. They sound really great. The harmonics ring out on the 5th, 7th and 12th frets. The workmanship that went into laminated maple necks and ornate bridges cost too much to keep them profitable. The cheaper Asian models put out by other companies put them out of business.

or buy one used since resell value is low... though honestly as far as quality and overall experience I'd personally value it just as high as anything else in the price range, and in my opinion it looks better than anything else in the price range, which obviously isn't as big of a selling point to most people as it is for me

with good equipment besides, it sounds fine, does its job. Squiers and Gios can all sound good too. All depends on who is playing and what its being played through. Obviously it wont have all the tonal characteristics of a $2000+ guitar, but in a blind comparison with the RG and guitars double its price if recorded properly there wouldnt be a noticeable difference to 99% people

The thing with cheap guitars is if it's really bad quality it will be harder to play, and not sound as good or stay in tune.

But there are tons of budget guitars out there that are decent. If you are just looking to mess around to see if you like guitar a Monoprice California Classic(strat copy) or a Squier Affinity Stratocaster or Telecaster. 70 vs 200 bucks for entry level guitars.

Monoprice one is actually decent as I bought it for someone as a gift. I have a Squier Tele and I like it.

If you move up later on the Classic Vibe 50s Strat is a really choice guitar. High quality guitar that stands among more expensive geetars. Good luck and have fun.

>Amps sound best cranked.

Any sound guy worth his salt will tell the guitarist to turn his amp down so that the microphone can do the work. It's similar to how having the gain at 10 just gives you shitty distortion because it's too much.

Unless huge feedback is what you're going for, don't crank your amp past half its capacity at a gig. That's what the microphone that gets put in front of your speakers is for.

I used to play in a couple of metal bands and also a jazz outfit, and now I'm in a covers band that has horns and all. Honestly don't think I could be in a band without them ever again, they just add so damn much. Harmonisation often sounds cleaner on them than on two guitars, for example, and fuck me do they thicken out the sound.

Truly underappreciated potential comes from horns in bands. In the eighties it was sax solos, now it's guitars. Both are great, so why not have both?

Most of the tone of a guitar is from the amp. People spends a lot on amps for that reason but since your using a computer you won't have to mess with finding a amp besides maybe a small practice amp like pic related.

Guitar is fun as fuck. Learn simple stuff like open chords, maybe some riffs and power chords.

Wild Thing by The Troggs is great to learn open chords.

I have an ENGL Richie Blackmore, about $1k (AUD) second hand barely used (not just some ad where the guy said "barely used"; quite literally barely used, given the quality it came in). It's a great head for a good price, so I'll back up what >>715892748 said.

My only beef is no reverb, but that's because previously I'd played on an amp with built-in reverb. Just get a pedal and you're good for that though, should you feel you need it.

Also, keep in mind it's an amp meant to do distorted music. ENGL are great, but they're not known for their clean tones.

Yeah, inexpensive gets rid of the afraid to ding factor.

This guitar was about perfect out of the box. I didn't even bother to have it set up - WAY better action and intonation from the factory than my Gibson.

But the best part is the built in USB - plug it into my iPhone or iPad, plug in my headphones, launch Garageband and it is a fucking killer portable studio. Jam on bus, beach, motel room, wherever.

They quit making them - had to be a profit killer.

>>715892641
You're a complete moron. The only reason they tell you to turn your shit down is because your amp is probably too loud to begin with. The best tones are when the amps are being pushed hard. Thats why in the studio its best to use lower wattage amps. The microphone is a filter. Thats why you can simulate mics using Impulse responses in modern digital amps. The actual problem is that people gig with 100 watt amps which they don't need. You need to be pushing the amp as hard as you can up to the point that you get the cabinet and speakers moving in the correct way. The real problem is using the wrong amp for the wrong situation.
