ITT:Post weight loss tips
Only /b/ros who have actually lost weight.

>Only thing that's ever worked for me was, eat more vegetables (cruciferous) and fiber, cut sugar and bread. don't eat anything after 6, and lifting weights (no cardio)

>Going to bed hungry pretty much guarantees weight loss but it is terrible for your sleep and it sucks in general.

>also fat hate thread
>>
That's weird. If I don't eat, I get sleepy because of it. Few times I'll eat once a day, and it's whatever I want. I guess that's why I've never been a hambeast.
>>
When you go to bed, try keeping it cool in your room. I hear that helps people lose weight...

yeah keeping cool especially your testicles increases testosterone production.
>>
For me finding why I wanted to lose weight was the key part. I tried to lose weight twice before but without a good reason I'd always give up half-way through (being healthier wouldn't cut it for me personally). My tip is find a good why and then just pick one out of the hundreds of diets/exercise programs.

Maybe it is because your body gets used to it and tries to conserve energy. Idk I've never been a hambeast but I am heavier than I'd like to be at the moment like 10-15 lbs overweight. I drink like a fish every weekend which definitely doesn't help.

Usually after a breakup I get in amazing shape out of spite but then as soon as i get in a new relationship I let myself go. It is a vicious cycle but now I just want to be in shape cuz im sick of this muffin top. Also this is going to sound gay but looking at people in better shape than you is a good motivator.

Want to lose weight easy? No problem man.

Eat only once in the morning, turkey sandwich, avocado, tomato, lettuce, wheat bread.

Cardio. Lots and lots of cardio.

Everyday, 5x a week. No cheat meals. None of that shit.

In 90 days I lost 79 lbs.
EASY AS FUCK.

Your metabolism will go up, and your testosterone will drop. You'll wake up feeling like shit everyday. Push through it, and do cardio only.

Best cardio?
Incline walking, 1 hour.
Jog for 10 mins.
Cycle until your leg cramps.
>>
>>715857393
That is definitely impressive but I also lift and have a decent amount of muscle so eating once a day won't cut it for me.
>>
You can't starve yourself. When you do that, your metabolism slows and relies on what's already in your body. Then whenever you become hungry or decide to eat more than usual, it isn't digested as quickly and in turn packs on weight. Just eat until you're full (and no more), but make sure the foods are healthy.
>>
>>715857169
I feel you. My bell rung when I saw my whole life going to shit, my grades fell big time, broke up with my gf, lost many of my friends and I started smoking due to all the stress. I decided to make a U-turn which was especially hard due to my dad being a drunk but now I can say I'm doing better, got into uni, I'm dating I still gotta keep working on my shape and completely cut smoking off (almost a month without it)
>>
>>715856991
That's exactly it. All part of dealing with depression. If I'm both tired and hungry, I'll sleep and wake up the next day completely absent of hunger. I've been asked what I do to lose weight (I bounce from being average to skinny and back to average again), I tell them it's all part of depression. I get joking responses that "I wish I had that", I let them know with a serious tone "I would gladly take your weight at the most you ever had and gladly trade it off with my depression, and I could be assured I would live longer than you. Trust me, I want that more than you." They don't seem to be joking or happy after I say that.

It's annoying when people ask me questions about my mental health. They're better of reading a psychology book than asking me. And I'm easily irritated. Very few things that satisfy me is how quick I shut people down.

I lost 35 lbs. in a week just by doing the 'Fat, sick and nearly dead' vegetable juice diet. That's pretty extreme.

What I recommend instead is drinking nothing but freshly produced vegetable juice for one day and doing keto(healthy protein like chicken, fish, lean red meat ,etc. and raw vegetables) the next day. Alternate until day 7, when you get to go out and have yourself a nice meal eating whatever you want.

You should lose a ton of weight in a reasonable amount of time and feel a lot healthier.

So I realized something probably life changing the other day. It's probably a "duh" for most people, but I'm willing to bet it's not common thinking to a lot of overweight people. I know it wasn't for me. First off, don't eat until you're hungry. That part is "duh". We all know that. We don't do it, but we know it. It's this second part that I never understood. Don't eat until you're full. Just eat until you're not hungry anymore. Yes, there is a difference. It's that difference that I'm betting a lot of people don't understand.

Its a math equation OP
cals in VS cals out
Start recording every cal you eat. If you eat 1200 cals for a day you must burn over 1200 cals to loose weight. Burn more cals then your eat and you will loose weight

Count calories
Doesn't matter what you eat if your goal is simple weight loss. If you eat better, you'll feel and look better.

If you do cardio, low intensity for a long time (walking) and high intensity for short periods (sprints) supposedly burn a good amount without making you hungry. Lifting burns calories as well.

If you're serious, buy a food scale and use MyFitnessPal
I went from 170-140 in around 4 months with almost no cardio (just lifting 3x a week)

I'd like to lose at least 10lbs but Its hard with work and the shitty food i end up eating there, For breakfast I eat plain oatmeal with cinnamon, lunch I eat shit, Dinner I eat kale and chicken or a protien shake. My problem is on the weekend I drink beer and eat fried food.

>>715856226
I had a doctor tell me the main trick is resting calorie burn ie how much your body needs to burn just at rest.

Lean muscle eats a lot of calories so just being strong and keeping your calorie count down will do it.

I lost like 70 pounds when i was 19 because i got a job pushing shopping carts.

My weight stayed pretty low til like this year (30 now) even though i work heavy as fuck construction and eat way healthier. Gained like 40 pounds since april.

Metabolism, amirite guise?

>>
Going to bed hungry is not terrible for your sleep and it doesn't suck in general. Your body slows down and your stomach becomes the least of your concerns. The same thing happens if your stomach is full, but it's even worse because then food is essentially just sitting there moving way slower than it usually does.

Dinner should be the smallest meal of the day, and breakfast should be the largest.

This. Hunger becomes a circadian rhythm if you eat on a schedule.

You really shouldnt be going to bed with food in your stomach. If youre hungry before bed you either eat too many late night meals and snacks, or you starved yourself that day.

Count. Calories.

That's it. If your calorie intake stays under 1,500/day, you'll lose weight. It'll go faster if you exercise, but stay under 1,500 (but over 1,000). That's the whole story.
>>
OP hey, Ex-bodybuilder /b/ro here.

I've done the crazy boiled-chicken and tons of supplements thing, crazy workouts, all that shit. Now if you want to lose weight here's some simple tips:

1. Go to the gym and do 2 sets of 3 exercises for 3 weeks. You'll feel like you're not doing a lot, but the best thing you can do is not overwork yourself too fast, just get the muscles working for 3 weeks before you start pushing it.

2. Eat breakfast. Get some fucking Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches as CostCo. I love them, fuckin' eat 'em.

3. Cut out the snacks, go to your pantry and cabinets when your willpower is high and throw away your snacky shit.

I would post more, sorry, gotta jet, lyfe

Walking isn't cardio. You need to do something that gets your heartrate higher. Also, as weird as it sounds, you might not be eating enough. Count calories and eat the suggested amount for your body weight. If you cut back too much, your metabolism will drop and you'll just feel tired all the time.

i lost about 12 kilos over 3 months this summer.

All i did was eat around 1000 calories a day. CUT ALL CARBOHYDRATES.

Instead of eating pasta and chicken - ONLY EAT THE CHICKEN. fry some chicken, add some broccoli, some aspargus - boom 100 calorie lunch. eat 2 times a day, skip breakfast.

you dont need more. eat small portions, youre not gonna die.

There is only one way to lose fat:

Consume calories at a slower rate than your body burns them and wait.
>>
>>715857393
yeeeaaah that works but isnt necessarily a healthy way to do it.
you could limit your fat and carb intake while lifting too.
ie its not limiting all food or starving yourself. just eat right, and eat smaller portions of healthy food more often (like 6x perday) which increases metabolism

the waking up feeling like shit is your brain and organs suffering.
also you dont have to do cardio only, lifting will burn and turn fat into muscle
>>
What worked for me was eating 6-8 200 calorie meals. 200 calories is like a yogurt and a side.

No, you're not good at "shutting people down", nor are you smarter than the people you talk to.

I would quickly disengage conversation if the autist started sperging like you obviously do. That's not getting shut down, that's just maintaining overall patience.

You are probably a useful idiot, which is why they allow you to sperg. If you didn't do favours for them, or lend money, they would not talk with you at all. This is something you need to understand about yourself.

Final thought: so-called depression + being an unpleasant fat angry cunt often go hand in hand. Many people don't even take the time to realise what utter negative people they truly are.

Are you an angry fatty who noone understands?

You're body is smart but you have to put shit it recognizes in there. You are consuming tons of meats, dairy and processed shite. None of this is food our bodies evolved to process. Dairy has been around for like 10,000 yrs max. Meat like 3 mill max.

I'm fairly tall so I've never been concerned with weight bcause I look chubby where others look fat, but the underlying health problems have started with me so I'm just counting calories and walking a mile everyday. Not very good as in I'm not eating good food, I'm just eating a lot less but I usually just eat for fun so I've been loosing 2000+ cals a day and having no fuckinf prob at all
>>
Eat fewer calories than you're burning. Dont fall for the fad diets people are posting here. Eat your vegetables, the fiber in them makes you feel full on fewer calories. Remember fat has 9 cal per gram so it's very easy to over eat without realizing it. Keto diets work but you have to be very strict with them so I wouldn't advise it.

I lost 90 pounds the last 6 months, and it was not that hard.

What you eat has the vast majority of the effect on any weight loss; a workout is great for you, but you don't work out to lose weight, you do it to get in shape (which is good). More muscles means you burn more cals when sitting still, but if you're a huuuuge fatty like I was, it's all about moderating your calories.

Just make a calorie plan, like I eat 6 meals a day, about 200kcal each. If I drop 100 kcal on 2 of my meals I can eat a meal with 400kcal for dinner, etc etc. Juts keep to that and you can eat pretty much whatever (but try to keep it healthy), just remember to get enough protein etc caus you lose a lot of muscle mass if you lose weight without exercising.

TL;DR: Don't focus too much on the workout, what you eat counts for pretty much all your weight loss if you're overweight.

Like you said, having a definite feeding window made the biggest difference for me.

Formerly 340lbs, currently 210lbs. I still eat like a pig but it's between 8-10pm instead of all day and night.

I couldn't do a pushup a few months back so I did a bunch of inclines before I could do one irl. Kept progressing those and now I'm on the cusp of 25 consecutive pushups. Been trying to hit a 100 a day, but occasionnaly fall asleep having only done 60.

Body fat is around 25%, and hoping that my pushups and occasional squats will chip away at that. Body fat was 50% at 340.

What you it is as important as how many calories you eat.
Intermittent fasting is scientifically proven to work. Not eating after 6 and waking up at 6 gives you at least 12 hours of time spent not eating.

this. you can eat pretty much whatever you want as long as it's not high in fats or processed sugars, and as long as you do cardio every day and lift a few times a week you'll lose weight. For me, doing cardio at the beginning of my workout works best because it makes your body burn more calories while you're lifting
>>
Black coffee no sugar or anything helps keep hunger down. Probably not good for your cardiovascular system though.

>>715856226
Cardio every day. You can't avoid this.
If you want to do the most cardio in the least amount of time, do stair climbing.
Also just go to your local parks. You can burn a bunch of calories just walking around. If you bring a backpack with you and a bunch of stuff in it, it'll burn even more calories.

Also, you need to change your diet.
Don't try to make drastic changes. Change one thing at a time.
Start with cutting out soda. That's pretty easy. No more soda, just coffee(don't fill it with sugar and creamer), tea(ditto on the sugar) and water.
After water, desserts, sweets and candies gotta go
Just change your diet one step at a time. I tried making and overhaul change on my diet and I stuck to it for about a month then I regressed to my old eating habits.

Holy shit, no. "Starvation mode" is a myth, not substantiated by any science whatsoever. Now, that said, you shouldn't actually starve yourself. It's not that your body enters some magical mode where somehow the laws of physics stop applying, it's just that you'll eat more when you DO eat after starving yourself, and wind up scarfing down all the calories you avoided over the past period of time.

Speaking of physics and calories, that's literally all there is to it. Calories In, Calories Out. Intake less calories than you burn, and you'll lose weight. Period. It's the first law of thermodynamics, and any fat-activist-fuckwit who disagrees needs to go submit their body to the Nobel organization for breaking the laws that govern our universe.

Count your calories. The average is 2000 calories per day burned doing nothing but existing, however that can swing up or down based on size, activity level, gender, etc etc, so take it with a heavy grain of salt. Eat less than your TDEE and you lose weight; how quickly depends on how far under that TDEE number you eat.

And one other thing to keep in mind, you have to change your dietary habits if you want to lose weight. Exercise alone will rarely burn enough calories to offset a poor diet. So eat less, and what you do eat, try to make sure it's lower in sodium, more filling, less carbs. Exercise is good, by all means, run your heart out, but if your goal is pure weight loss that's your diet first!

Don't buy into fad diets that tell you "Cut out all the carbs"/"Eat all the red meat you want!"/"Detoxify your body!" They're bullshit, plain and simple. Should you limit your carb intake? Sure, carbs are fairly "empty" calories, but you don't have to avoid them like the plague. The problem with carbs is that you eat X number of calories in bread, but it doesn't fill you up as much as X calories in vegetables, for example. You don't have to avoid carbs, just limit them, same for beer, alcohol, sugars, etc.

This has been working out for me for many years. There's kind of two options to it, one with working out and without working out.

With working out:

Swim. You burn A LOT of calories swimming. I used to swim competitively in college, so obviously I knew how to swim and I was kind of forced to do the workouts. But if you're new to swimming then it will probably take a week of solid stroke work to get freestyle down, and from their just swim laps. I wouldn't recommend consistent swimming, but instead swimming at a faster pace down to one side, taking a break, then swimming back. You can do this and not really change your diet and it will help a lot.

Without working out I would recommend only drinking water, and a lot of it. I don't know the science behind diets at all, but I personally think that drinking a lot of water lets you piss out all the bad shit in your body, and it helps you stay avoid being sick. I also eat a quart of white rice every day, there's no nutrients in it whatsoever, but I believe it helps you feel more full and if you drink a lot of water you won't feel constipated from it. I also don't eat breakfast, I stick to a decently large lunch, like a sandwhich with turkey and chicken and bacon. Then for dinner I eat almost the same thing just not on a sandwhich.

My favorite sandwhich is a white chibatta with chicken, turkey, bacon and chipotle mayo.

This works out for me, I don't work out much anymore and have stayed relatively the same weight and haven't had any tone changes.

Anyone have an recommendations for me?

Except Calories In, Calories Out is different for literally every single human being on the planet.

Gut flora also consume calories. Nutrition labeling accounts for this, but every person has a unique gut culture.

Therefore, 100 Calories to me does not equal 100 Calories to you does not equal 100 Calories to Joe Schmoe etc etc.

The research is still new, but you should check it out. "Naturally" thin people or those with "high metabolisms" may just have amazingly hungry gut bacteria.

You got a link for any of this "research" that's from a relatively legitimate institute or scientific research body? Because what you're saying sounds a whole lot like the same excuses the fativists like to make up to excuse their fatness.

Regardless, if you burn X calories, and intake Y, and X is greater than Y, it doesn't matter how your body "processes" them, because you're still burning more than you're taking in. Which means you lose weight.

Ah, here you are, an abstract from a 2006 study:

The worldwide obesity epidemic is stimulating efforts to identify host and environmental factors that affect energy balance. Comparisons of the distal gut microbiota of genetically obese mice and their lean littermates, as well as those of obese and lean human volunteers have revealed that obesity is associated with changes in the relative abundance of the two dominant bacterial divisions, the Bacteroidetes and the Firmicutes. Here we demonstrate through metagenomic and biochemical analyses that these changes affect the metabolic potential of the mouse gut microbiota. Our results indicate that the obese microbiome has an increased capacity to harvest energy from the diet. Furthermore, this trait is transmissible: colonization of germ-free mice with an ‘obese microbiota’ results in a significantly greater increase in total body fat than colonization with a ‘lean microbiota’. These results identify the gut microbiota as an additional contributing factor to the pathophysiology of obesity.

Fasted cardio, (cardio in the morning with nothing to eat)
Incline walk for 40mins keeping your heartrate under 130bpm.
If it goes over, slow the walk down.
I usually walk at a speed of 5.5kmp\h at an incline of 12°.

If you find your heartrate going up, slow the walk until it goes back down.

I found this to be good and have lost 25lbs of excess fat. Lost a little bit of lean weight aswell, but that's easy enough to get back if you focus on it.

Oh no, the fat fuck might have to run a little harder than the skinny fuck!

I don't see anything that says weight loss is impossible for fat fucks anywhere. And your original statement of:

>Except Calories In, Calories Out is different for literally every single human being on the planet.

Is completely invalid. It's not different, it's exactly the same. It's just that the mice with these gut microbes have a higher TDEE number than the mice without. At least, that's based on reading the abstract you linked. So no, it's not different for everyone, it's EXACTLY THE FUCKING SAME. Burn more energy than you intake, simple as that. The fact that it's easier or harder for some based (hypothetically) on this gut microbe doesn't factor into whether it's true or not.

You are half right and half wrong. Your body doesn't look at calories and fullness as the same thing. Fullness if whether or not your stomach is physically filled (fluids help, but there seems to be a distinction between watery and solid foods). Calories is the amount of energy a food contains.

If you ate a kilogram of chocolate, your stomach would be just as filled as if you ate a kilogram of lettuce, but one clearly has more calories.

You feel hungry mostly when your stomach is empty, which may be after digesting a lot of healthy food, with comparatively lower calories, or unhealthy food.

If your diet mostly consist of small, high calorie foods (or even large, even-higher calorie foods) then your body will get hungry at times when it has excess energy, hence you are likely to put on weight.

Overall, eating less is 100% the way to go, but if you want to loose weight without being tortured by hunger constantly, just eat food that contains less calories per kilogram. Usually this means vegetables and lean meat.

Another factor to consider is that some people have more efficient bodies than others. That means, if you know someone that eats terribly and stays skinny, their body wastes a lot of the calories they ingest, whereas another person might retain them and store it as fat more easily. They are both genetic things that are advantageous in their own ways, but when put in modern society, with crap food readily available, one of them suffers more.

Also, calorie counting is so imprecise you may aswell not do it. It is kinda useful as a rough guide though.

This only predicts that it's the same for humans not verifies it. Furthermore, calories are obviously the main reason for you being fat:

>Although the primary cause of obesity is excess caloric intake compared with expenditure, one intriguing hypothesis that follows from these studies links differences in gut microbial ecology between humans to energy homeostasis; i.e. individuals with a microbial community more efficient at energy extraction from the diet, or with an increased ability to promote adiposity through manipulation of host genes and metabolism, may be predisposed to obesity. This hypothesis predicts that obese and lean individuals will have distinct microbiotas, with measurable differences in their ability to extract energy from their diet and to deposit that energy in fat.

The huge water intake and outtake causes you to piss constantly, keeping your kidneys, liver and so forth working causing calorie burn. Also, if you aren't dehydrated, fat cells contain water. Since you are cycling water through your body so quickly, the water in your fat cells gets replaced, potentially 'dragging' some fat with the water, causing you to lose weight.

This only works for a few pounds though. Eventually you'll be trying to lose sturdier fat cells that have been there for longer than the newer ones so the water can't 'drag' the fat out as easily.

But yeah, water 4 days

I got a bicycle about a week ago. I've been trying for months to get into a routine of jogging, but jogging is too fucking boring and tiring for me. I had fun cycling up and down my street for over an hour. I've since started to commute to work by bike and the commute is getting easier every time I do it. If I can tolerate the New England winter, I'll probably sell my car.

The point is, find some exercise you genuinely enjoy. I haven't weighed myself recently, but I feel like I've lost a noticeable bit of weight. I'm already within the healthy weight range, but I still have the tiniest bit of excess fat I would like to get rid of.

Previously I weighed about 20 or 30 pounds more and I just barely had a healthy BMI. I lost that initial weight by paying attention to what I ate and moderate strength exercises. I didn't restrict my diet, per se, such as quitting soda completely. I just realized that I was drinking soda every day and replaced some of it with water, juice, or milk. Cut down on the junk food, too, but no need to completely abstain from it. A cookie won't hurt, but 20 cookies definitely does.

Seriously? Simple. Figure out TDEE and reduce by 500.

Seriously if you need some "tips" you'll never lose weight. Eat whatever, twinkles pizza whatever, just eat 500 below tdee.

Uhh actually it isn't the same. Women only need roughly 1600-1800 calories for a basic day. Men need from 2000-2200. Also as you age these numbers decrease over time. Nobody is defending fatfucks who say 'muh genetics' we're simply saying that you can't say 'hurr stay below 2000!' to everyone. Some people need to stay below 1500 or even lower if they aren't active and depending on a variety of other factors.

Stop being an autistic queer about it

cut all desserts completely. No more candy or pop at all, not even diet soda. Water water water. 5km on the treadmill every day (should be about 1 hour). crunches, pushups until muscle fatigue.

Wait, is THAT what we were arguing about this whole time?

Holy fucking shit, dude, that's not what I was suggesting at all. Granted, I may not have spelled it out plainly enough, but I tried to at least say you have to take the 2k number with a grain of salt:

> The average is 2000 calories per day burned doing nothing but existing, however that can swing up or down based on size, activity level, gender, etc etc, so take it with a heavy grain of salt.
>THE AVERAGE

And then I continued to explain:
>Eat less than your TDEE and you lose weight; how quickly depends on how far under that TDEE number you eat.

Again, trying to give the benefit of the doubt here, I agree entirely you can't just say "Everyone burns 2k". Everyone's TDEE is different. You have to calculate what that number is for yourself and either eat under it or raise the number through exercise (although you should just eat less; can't outrun a diet and all).

And regardless, that doesn't even come close to saying that CICO doesn't work or is different for other people. Just that what you burn in calories is different.

What I did
>eat half of what you normally ate
>take large amounts of time to eat, your body will tell you that you are full so you wont eat as much
>muscular and cardiovascular fitness, improves circulation, and muscle tissue uses 20% more energy while sleeping than fat does, so youll burn fat as you sleep
I lost 20kg like this

When I was around there, I started going to a gym with a punching bag and it's still good cardio for me. I would recommend HIIT cardio, although there are a lot of things to consider when doing that, like the stress it can put on your knees and other things, just research it and see if you'd like it. For a while I also did cardio everyday, but just like 3.5 - 5 miles on a bike in the gym.

I went to the gym 5 times a week and to get under 200, I was doing calisthenic workouts, so a bunch of stuff that were timed, like X amount of push ups with a little rest in between to something else, not so much lifting anything.

I'm no expert so I don't want to give you too much advice on food, but I went from 240 pounds down to 175 right now, so I hope some of this helps.

I love swimming and wish I could do it more but I can't.

I can't into public pools because chlorine fucks me up. The last time I went into a public pool I started feeling light headed just from the smell and then got a bit in my nose and almost blacked out. I don't know if its an allergy or something else.

I love swimming in the ocean but moved and now I hardly ever get the chance.
