I don't know, especially since it's been played with before. I'd guess it's because being legless is easier to see than paralyzation, and therefor easier for fluffies to comprehend and get traumatized about too.

I agree. It seems like some artists draw amputees completely incosequentially, almost like an afterthought to add one more bit of misery. Most of all I'm not a fan of amputations because they reduce the fluffy to nothing but an object to do this to, with no way to get into trouble on its own or do anything meaningful in general.
