>>714816500
that stupid thing is just a bunch of fucking scribbles. This is why liberal arts majors are so fucking stupid.
>>714818483
<-- you, right now
>>714818483
Those stupid fucking scribbles sold for over $10 million. Maybe outside of your closed mind is a world full of possibilities. Maybe outside of your closed mind is something you refuse to see
>>714818831
You made a good point, then you went full fedora.
>>714819000
Fuck
>>714819167

Looks like a colourful, graffiti version of Guernica.
>>714820016
Kinda
>>714816500
De Kooning?
>>714820016
His pieces are massive and flooded with detail.

>>714820631
I love his "woman" paintings
>>714820631
My father studied fine art in the 60's. In studio they tried to replicate a Pollock, dripping paint on canvases. Nothing they did even came close. An artist's brush strokes and distribution of pallet are as unique as handwriting.
>>714821311
Women are the greatest subject
>>714821633
Agreed anon. Can you share some of your favorites? I'm trying to expand
>>714816500
>>714816500
dump is right. jeez this is bad.
>>714821766
I'm more a fan of art in the form of construction. This is Fallingwater.
>>714822118
Art is subjective. What do you prefer?
>art
>posts picture of paint randomly shit across a canvas
the definition of art is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination. shitting colors across a canvas with a paintball gun or something along those lines is not art its just autism
>>714822233
Nice numbers. Frank Lloyd Wright was the shit. Preciate your input
>>714816500
>>714822307
>critiques my art preference
>post a picture of a spongebob character
>?????
>>714818483
then quit your bitching and go make some million dollar scribbles. then you can retire and laugh at all us poorfags.
spongebob is art

I agree with you man, its the name more than anything. If I made that, it wouldn't matter cause im no one. I heard the most famous are is the most talked about

Hemingway vs H.S.Thompson vs Kobain. Who was the greatest an hero
>>714823925
This. If Kanye West made drunken finger paint on paper out of Kim's menstrual blood, it would sell for ten million.
>>714823790
That's actually a pretty great perception of it; however, Auerbach had people sit for him, and he always ended up painting something like pic related.
>>714824444
Fourgasm. I dig too. Felt like this after a few grav bongs once

wilks spent a lot of time painting pictures for those "find everything in this picture that starts with the letter G" type of books. eventually stopped doing it so he could do more freaky shit like >>714824444
always was pretty impressed with his detail.
damn it... We already have the fucking traps taking over the board. Now we have to deal with artfags too? It's almost too much

Don't blame the artist for the business. Sure, the "art world" is one of the most laughable industries on earth, but it's best you don't look at the prices before you form your opinions.

MURILLO, Bartolomé Esteban
As I take a deep breath and contemplate every breath, I realize that life is precious. Anyone posting in this thread please realize that any opinion is valid and every prospective holds value
>>714828173
Personally, I don't find that piece the least bit interesting either; however, I think maybe you'd feel a bit differently about minimalist abstraction if you visited the Rothko Chapel.
>>714827769
if someone have to explain shit about his/her "art" then its bullshit... and dont come to my with "oh, but art is hace such a variety of definiti...". fuck you, art was concepted centuries ago, and it isnt the shit is it today, fuck the last centurie art, fuck modern art, fuck artists, fuck snobs and fuck you all if u doubt me... and piece of white trash and I say it proudly...
>>714828352
The thing is, people who've never painted will never understand how incredibly difficult it is to do something like that.
>>714828651
>art was concepted centuries ago
the definition of art has changed throughout western civilization and different cultures have different ideas about what constitutes art. some cultures have no concept of art. it is not a static concept.
>>714828869
he's definitely a painter's painter
Bouguereau, William Adolphe ( 1825-1905 )
Caravaggio (Merisi, Michelangelo)
I started a thread on /hr/ if anyone is interested in my fartwork. And I'd love it if any artists would contribute their own fartwork too.
Delacroix, Ferdinand Victor Eugéne
>>714829300
Please do
Goya, Francisco
Masaccio (Cassai, Tommaso)
Murillo, Bartolomé Esteban (1617-1682 )
>>714828920
>>714828869
so, if I spend weeks shitting over my pillow to demonstrate the fragility and meaningless of the dreams will be art? I mean, the art have a dynamic concept, sure this will land somewhere over it, and it took me weeks to do it, it was difficult...
thats it, fuck snobs... im done... im so done...
>>714816500
Just because a pretentious twat with a lot of money bought this for millions doesn't make it art
Raphael (Sanzio, Raphael 1483-1520 )
Rembrandt
Renoir, Pierre-Auguste
>>714830270
Have any of the pieces he made when he was older?
After he went broke?
>>714829938
Look, I'm probably more on your side than you think. Modern art has become a dialogue between schizophrenics, and the vast majority of exhibits need to be understood by means of long, verbose artist statements; nevertheless, it's better than the alternative of art being a rigid science in which people merely describe the form as accurately as possible.
>>714829510
Unfortunately I'm the only one contributing...
>>714829088
Got the uncensored version?
>>714830414
Rembrandt -1660
TROY, Jean-François de
Norman Rockwell
>>714831148
Thank you anon. He is one of the few artists of that time that I truly adore.

One of my favorites: a painting of a woman caressing a pot, which lies her murdered husband's severed head...

>>714831869
I actually have an affinity for Rockwell, but he was a simpleton who appeals to conservatives because of their lack of critical thinking skills.
>free speech
>conservative """values"""
He made comfy paintings, but they were comfy for a reason: because they were escapist fantasies!
>>714832450
Simplistic political art always irks me.
>>714832450
I like his painting for another reason, becuase each one of them tells a story, without any words. And they are by no means for only simpletons to admire.
>>714832676
Because it's either blatant propaganda, or even worse, propaganda that simpletons can't discern.
>>714818831
If this is Picasso, then it is part of the biggest pricing bullshit since diamonds.
There are so many fucking Picasso's, held by inheritors, yet to be sold that it would dilute the market.
>>714816682
Nice
>>714833055
Yeah, my feelings exactly. I don't mind political commentary in art as long is its subtle and doesn't overshadow the actual piece itself.
>>714832741
Agreed. That's why I like him too.
It also helps that I had a very RockwellIan childhood, myself, and this makes it much easier for me to sympathize with him. However, there are many people in the world who's reality couldn't be further from the comfy surroundings of one of his pieces.
>>714817829
Fuck basquiat
>>714833420
I have to agree. Basquiat was way late on the abstract expressionist bandwagon, and he incorporated one of the most vapid forms of art (gaffitti) into it. It was like a child imitating De Kooning, sucking all the life out of it, and turning it into juvenile cave drawings.
>>714818831
>>714827769
the world of art in a nutshell.
>>714834556
So, you'd agree that it's absurd to look at a price tag and judge a piece of art with that in mind?
>>714828577
Art is just a visual perspective while you're at it.
>>714826800
THERE IS A LOT SHITTIER ART ON HERE THAN THIS.
>>714834158
He was hit by a fucking car
