Hunting is an important survivalist skill.
They know where their meat comes from, they know it's had a healthy lifestyle and assuming you've checked its liver you can be sure it's in good health and fine to eat.

It's better than buying store bought, especially in the case of pigs. If you can't get free range your better off hunting feral pigs or raising your own. At least then you know it's had a healthy diet and decent life first. You are what you eat.
