Here's the thing: most of his subscribers are inactive. He only gets about 3-4 million views per video, while he has 50 million subs. Now imagine he deletes his channel and starts a new one, which he obviously heavily promotes via his old channel before deleting it:

He might only get ~4 million subs, but if he still stays at ~3 million views per video, his subscriber-interaction-rate jumps from ~7% to ~75%.

The youtube algorithm heavily favours channels with high subscriber interaction - he might recover his subscribers faster this way than the way his channel is currently growing - and in the end of the day, the number of subscribers is irrelevant, the only relevant thing is the amount of views.

Higher rated by youtube algorithm -> more promotion -> more views.

No matter what he did, he would've won either way.

The whole point of this shit about him deleting his channel was that with 50 million subs his videos were getting nothing even close to 2 million. the views are what dictates his money.

Deleting his channel is simply to refresh the people who actually are keeping up with him, they are the ones that will instantly subscribe to his new one.

He's no longer the fad he used to be yet his sub numbers don't even reflect his frequent viewer base. That's what he's hoping to clean up.
