Fluoride does help the re-calcification of tooth enamel. I don't know that drinking actually helps any though. But in mouthwash and toothpaste it certainly helps prevent cavities.

The previous poster was thinking of chlorine which kills bacteria. In sufficient amounts It also makes the water smell if there is bacteria in it. The indoor public pool smell is chloride acting on bacteria.

Fluoride does have the properties mentioned in vid, but consuming it with every glass of water we drink while the rest is unnecessarily metabolized in our system seems like a bad method of treating our teeth.

In some parts of the world ground water from creeks and springs contains much much more of it that any tap water in the world. Early humans had to adapt to drink that shit. Tap water normally contains such small amounts that you'd have to drink around 20 liters of water at once to reach slight discomfort from overdose and around 1000 liters to actually kill yourself with it. The position of the doctors at WHO is that we still have too little of it in tap water.
