For me the electrical side is way more interesting than mechanical. If you're a bit like me you'll like it.

It's a bit harder though but I guess it depends on what you're doing in class. System and control theory e.g. lots of fun

Studied English. Biggest mistake of my life. Luckily I'm god tier at bullshit. Got a cushy job working for a law-firm. Things went better than expected.

If I could go back I'd never bother with college, spend my college tuition on drugs and learn everything humanly possible about net security. Develop program to test security. Sell it.

If only, I might actually be happy. I have degrees in two things from the God tier list, one from the low tier list. Most people I know are from this list. My wife is the smartest person I know, she's in the lowest tier.

I'm not happy. I'm not better than anyone else. I'm starting to figure this out, after years of 500K+ income. You will too, eventually.

>>

No, I'm not. I'm living in a McMansion with a wife I never see and no kids, with tons of money and nothing meaningful to spend it on, depressed and hopeless.

Degrees mean nothing. Money means nothing. Things mean nothing. I thought I would do good, I thought I would be happy. I'm a yuppie. I chased the wrong things. I wish I could do everything different.

I have no opinion on the validity of the job list.
>>
>>714372033
You're a literal dipshit.

CS degrees go into practical applications. You learn the underlying structures and use that knowledge to construct products, or do literally anything else that involves computers, software, or hardware.
>>
>>714372033
So you are one of those pale "my teacher who has a bachelors degree said engineering is in everything hurhur" legit let me explain something to you, alright

Engineering is a broad term that has been slapped on whatever term people can (but who can blame them, looking up basic definitions could be hard for someone so fucking smart)

Engineering - the branch of science and technology concerned with the design, building, and use of engines, machines, and structures.
>>

Nah. I'm 26 and I'm a music professor at a university. I also coordinate the parades. I make 118 grand a year baseline and then some from my music projects. I love music and I love being payed to do what I love.

Being an Engineer is shit tier. 90 percent of engineering students in the field don't actually like doing math and are just there because being there's no risk since you don't have to apply yourself. Only to be doing a mind-numbing job making medium wage. If you plan on being an engineer cause of the reliable source of income you're a dumb ass, because I ensure you it will be like marrying a bitch that's a 6/10 with a shit personality because you're sure she won't leave you. You will end up wasting 30 years of your life with not a lot to show for it.

I don't think any money past a certain point can buy anyone happiness. And if it can, they don't know what real happiness is.

Honestly, anything past a certain point is just accounting and bragging rights. I thought it made me happy at first, I beamed at the updates my accountant would send me. Then it just became the way it was.

I don't know what the true meaning is, but I know it isn't this. Rich assholes like me want to kill themselves too, kids.

Don't rank anyone by what they do, or what they've studied. Rank them by who they are and how they treat people.

I stand by my previous statement. A list like this is just dick stroking by a bunch of autists that feel inadequate about everything else, except one stupid thing. I know, I was one.

Degree in electrical engineering, although I would have kept only the hard sciences as god tier.

Anyone who uses "In industry..." as a justification to why your perfectly reasonable and technically sound solution won't work, or is not better should e ignored.
Anyone who says something is better because it is "Industry Standard" should also be ignored.
People who have been in engineering for a while get the smarts beaten out of them and they end up stuck in a life where if you don't follow "The Process" you are doing something wrong.
Join a startup, the people there are smarter, big companies think they can't fire people for being useless and that's what makes them a waste of resources and generally suck.

aviation sciences and management

what i've learned:
- don't ask the pilot wtf is going on
- trust the pilot to get you out of something
- how to be a pilot
- don't ask what's messed up on the plane that day. you almost always fly with something messed up
- if someone says you can't fly, they have a valid reason for saying so. believe me, they want your money as much as the next person, but, say, if you weigh too much, the plane may stall out during takeoff

>Economics and business studies are low tier

The only way you're going to survive with those "god tier" professions is if you strike a position as a teacher at a top notch university or some major research center like CERN. Otherwise you can expect to become a sandwich artist at subway.

Meanwhile every economist I know drives an audi and has a couple of harleys to spare in their garage

Computer science is much more than developing programs. Coding is one thing of many. There is the field of systems, cryptography, network, te, theoretic, logic, stochastic, graph theory, databanks... You don't need to study to code shit. If you study CS you actually learn how everything works. Studying is just how to do sth. Cooking meth is the same, everyone can do, he don't needs to know what happens.

Science and Education double degree here. Majored in Chem/Bio, minored in math. Been working as a substitute teacher since July. $350/day, pretty sweet. Just accepted year long contract for next year.

Science classes at uni were great. Went to a smaller school, got to know lecturers/tutor really well. Education units were a mixed bag. Majority of the education "theory" you study is worth fuck all in a real classroom. Your placements as a student teacher is what really prepares you.

Admittedly yes, especially with the globalized labor market. However, that doesn't mean the labor overseas is of equal quality, despite it's being of lower cost to a given company. They frequently have one guy lead a team of employees to deal with clients in the IT field, and in software development, Indian employees can slack off or miss deadlines without proper management to keep them in line. Oftentimes there can be communication obstacles, or lower quality code/group coordination simply because they're just not as talented, educated, or experienced as some workers in America. Furthermore, the education, and consequent experience that accumulates as one works within the field can contribute to the plausibility of one starting their own software firm, either consumer, or business oriented.

You go for a graduates degree after normal college. Im not speaking about nice colleges or anything because those do require higher education and an actual interest in your subject, just your average common collage you get plenty of professors who really act like nothing more than high school teachers.

I think you're selling a lot of high school teachers short. Public school teachers can't get away with the amount of bullshit college professors pull.

>never used the word liberal
>never voted for any candidate, ever, never will
>wont use broke system
>no sister

>what you are studying

I finished my thesis nearly three years ago. I feel ancient. 4chan didn't fucking exist when I started college.

You remind me of that episode of American Dad where Stan tries to save up money doing manual labor to go to a country club and his son takes the easy road and shoots him under the bus. Except at the end Stan still fucking loses just like you.

idk i think understanding legal matters is pretty difficult. Are you saying you know how to defend yourself in court?
>>

Because its a joke now. They dont actually teach. They have to teach a few specific facts and then give a standardized test to every student and hope they pass or they lose government funding, so the school forces boring and brainless teaching, which is what a bunch of average college professors are doing now because they can.
