>>713925496
Why don't you think about that for a second, Q...
>>713924578
And a plot synapse of one of the final episodes:
"Archer gives a speech to the officers of both ships, saying that they should move against Starfleet and the Empire. Soval and T'Pol meet, contemplating a future where alien species were respected and treated as equals; they convince Phlox to join their movement and sabotage Defiant. As the sole alien allowed to remain on board, he succeeds in disabling the ship's systems. Soval, on Avenger, then attacks, but Tucker disables Phlox and restores power. Defiant destroys its attacker, and when Sato and Archer celebrate in the captain's quarters, Archer dies after Mayweather defects to Sato. Reaching Earth on the advanced and powerful Defiant, Sato contacts Admiral Gardner demanding his surrender and declaring herself "Empress Sato"."
>>713925601

New trekkie here.
The post 2000 movies worth to watch? More specifically the jew-jew abrahams movies.
>fucking loved Voyager, TOS, TNG
>Liked DS9 and Enterprise
Don't understand apart from the violations and torture Archer did why people don't like Enterprise; but yeah, opinions. I mean it's not great, but it has a fair amount of its moments.

>>713926817
Old Trekkie here.
I hate the new movies. JJ Abrams took one of the smartest franchises in history and made it all about tits and explosions. They don't really care about the fans anymore. You might like them, but classic Trek is vastly better and where my heart is.
>>713927059
And by classic Trek, I mean everything before Enterprise was cancelled.
The captain is trying to murder me.

Only movie I've seen is First Contact(heard Borg queen before starting, piqued my interest), stopped DS9 I think 5-7 episodes before the finale. Currently on Voyager S7E14 but I stopped at S4E05 on Enterprise.
And I figured, haven't seen them but I suppose I will for the sake of objectivity. Started Trek a few months ago and god damn do I love it.
>>713927482
What do you like about it?
>>713927478
Just me or are the old Orion slave girls like fifty times hotter? Hell, I'd take a Telaxian woman over than shehulk of blob.

>>713927621
They're the ones everybody hates on the most. It's unfair. It's all Trek, with that classical style. They don't write like they did back then anymore.
TOS, TNG, DS9, VGR, ENT
movies 1-10
unparalleled brilliance and adventure
>>713927553
It being what? The movie or series I've watched?
But god damn do I hate Netflix's next episode 'summaries'
>>713928002
Star Trek in general.
>>713927889
On the fence since they announced they're making a series next year; figured Abrams will fuck it up beyond comparison or the filth we've has as writers since anything born in the 80's will finish the job.
>>713928075
Just everything; details, how in depth the stories are, the conflict of emotions to prime(or temporal prime) directives. Star Wars I was 200% disinterested in and I thought it'd be the same shit with Trek.
But fuck how wrong I was, love this almost as much as any series I've watched and I think it's probably one of the best shows ever devised. Only series superior to Trek I have to say would be the the original Twilight Zone but not by much.
>>713926087
Which species?
>>713927751
>>713928391
>on the fence since they announced they're making a series next year
They shit all over the franchise by rebooting it. Trekkies like me loved the fact it was the "continuing adventures". It will take them putting the series into the hands of real fans and returning to the original continuity for me to care.
>Just everything.
Me too.
I love the characters, the heart, the philosophy, the introspection, the humor, the design, the stories--it's all so great. DS9 and VGR are the nearest to my heart, but I love them all.
>>713928561
There's more than one?
>>713928794
Ciscko had his moments, but I didn't think I could like Janeway as much as I did from the spam posts I kept seeing about her separating a borg from the collective against her wishes and other shit.
And yeah, HIGHLY doubtful that the series will be any decent but I can hope. Roddenberry envisioned and put so much detail into Trek; pisses me off what's happened to it in the recent years.
>Klingon isn't even a language anymore, just gargles and grunts
>>713928887
The anusgalians; the most heinous threat to the alpha quadrant.
>>713929107
Sisko is my favorite Captain. He was the only one who could become a soldier when Starfleet needed him to. Archer tried, but he never really made the choice. Sisko had his friends and enemies. He could work them all politically, out bluff them, or blow the hell out of them. No one was more dominant or determined than him. Watching him I just really felt like he was a leader I could follow to hell and back.
And as far as Voyager is concerned, it just really felt like a family. Janeway kept the crew together somehow. She was tough when she needed to be and compassionate when she needed to be. I cried at the end (no spoilers).
>>713929507
>He could work them all politically, out bluff them, or blow the hell out of them.
His enemies, of course. He was loyal as hell to his friends.
>>713929507
Thanks for the no spoilers, only one's I've gotten were from when the Simpsons restaged family photos and the ending of ENT through some retarded googling.
Cisko was badass, really enjoyed the prophet deal.
>>713916191

Generations was another good one with TNG cast.
It's worth it to check out ST II & III.
IV is good but felt likre they tried to make it more approachable by keeping them on Earth during our time. It's got Bones and Spock; love me some Bones and Spock.
DS9 is my personal favorite series. Well worth it to finish it, imo.
I also stopped watching Enterprise within the first few episodes of SE4. They completely fucked the Suliban Temporal War and when they realized they couldn't fix it they made a story paralleled to the events of 9/11 and our subsequent war on the Xindi/Al Qaeda(SP?).
Voyager was good for me. Paris, Kim, and Chakotay were my favorites. Tuvok wasn't the worst vulcan I've seen (looking at you Kirstie Alley) and he had some good moments. I would also totally fuck B'Elanna. Fuck yeah.
TNG is really good if you haven't seen it yet.

So watch some Cliff Notes on SE1 and start at SE2?
>>713938161
I'm also a little peeved that they didn't make movies with that crew. I would've loved to see Sisko, Odo, Jadzia, and Quark in their own feature length.
>>713938773
I know that feel. Voyager's my personal favorite and they never made any movies for it, either.
>>713938945
I hated how the ending of Voyager felt rushed. Like a 'cop out.
>>713939089
Yeah, a bit. They knew they had to end it.
>>713939228
I'm just glad they went a bit more into the Borg. They teased them enough in TNG without giving us much meat and potatoes on them.
It's getting about time for me to watch another series again. Been about 5 years since I've seen DS9, maybe I'll pick that up.

Why do you say that? He's a sci-fi and comics nerd, can't imagine he'd hate trekkies.
>>713939360
I'm wrapping up a Voyager binge, maybe I'll try DS9 again after that.
>>713939089
all 3 finales were not very good
all of them gave me the impression that the writers were told at the last minute that the show is being canceled and they have to hump out a finale asap
TNG was the best of the 3 and DS9 did the best wrapping up the story
but Voyager was absolute shit bc the writers didn't think a premise of a 75 year journey was too ambitious for network TV
even with all the "short cuts" other than the finale it was dropped to what? 60 years?

DS9 is really different from any other trek franchise, if you haven't see it yet, watch Enterprise first.
>>713939602
Yeah, Voyager wasn't handled very well in that regard, but everything else was great.
>>713939637
I've seen Enterprise like a dozen times though, it's time I gave DS9 another shot. It's been years.
>>713939602
all 4 too
Enterprise's finale w/ the episode long double cameo was just desperate
>>713939637
>DS9 is really different from any other trek franchise
that is because ToS TAS and TNG were pop sci-fi vignettes w/ no series storyline
Voyager and Enterprise had a long term story line, but still kept the pop sci-fi vignette format
DS9 focused almost entirely on a single story line that tied all episodes together and rarely did anything that didn't add to that central story
>>713939990
I think the main complaint about DS9's 'difference' is that it was the only series not based on exploration. There is the Gamma Quadrant and I think they did a good job mixing it into the overall story. I'm still a little unsure about how I feel in regards to Odo's past and his race. I don't hate it, but I'm not sure I agree 100% with it. I acknowledge that they didn't fuck it up though.
The Vorta were interesting. It's at that time I learned about Jeffery Combs and what a marvelous actor he is (this is before I watch Enterprise).
>>713939637
Yeah but Enterprise is cliche.
They didn't fully explore the Suliban Temporal War even though they kept bringing it up. When they realized they couldn't fix it, they sent them off to an uncharted section of the galaxy with strange gravity pockets. this let them get away with completely random, arbitrary bullshit.
Enterprise is a lot better if you watch it with the understanding that it is an extended episode of Quantum Leap
>both recurring characters are in Enterprise
>Bakula is the main character in both
>you never see Archer's reflection
>the handler guy's actor makes a cameo
>heavy focus on time travel
>>713940834
and Quantum Leap was the initial engagements of the Temporal Cold War
