I had the same idea, but besides having over 330k km on it it doesnt burn any oil since i changed pcv valve, and it runs smooth.
I drive it hard daily, 180kmh on highways, shift close to redline on open roads.
These are great engines, only thing i have left to do is to change oil pan gasket and the oil level sensor, I am going to do that next service in 2k.

So far I'm in the clear, all I have is a leaking gasket around my waterpump, but I have a replacement in the boot, I just need to stop consuming all these drugs for a few hours so I can get down to replacing it.

These engines I meant/mentioned really run forever. Same thing, check Youtube for old Mercedes diesel engines. They still run.

Even if they sit for years you can start them up.
It's crazy.
Of course the car itself will rot in rust much sooner, but hey, the engine works.

(Also it's a thing of the past, no current cars run that long today.)

The problem in Europe today:
- Diesel is dead. Euro VI and DPF killed it. They are weak, break very, VERY quickly. (around 60k miles you will have plenty of problems already)
- Petrol is weak. V8 and V6 even is the thing of the past. V4 is mostly used.
- Even V3 is now "acceptable", Ford sells it too.

So yeah, shit's fucked up.

I'm not sure if I can even keep it at that ride height. The Diesel engine is quite tall that's what I'm puttin a drop axle in it to get the lower A arms out of the way to lower the engine. I have to make a custom blower hat/emergency stop so the air inlet isn't out the hood.
