fluffies are interesting as suprisingly intelligent DOMESTICATED ANIMALS. In this case, as fandom would have it, apparently artificially created by genetic manipulation. Several advanced mechanisms can be easily discovered in them. That's torture without soul, and part of why hugbox is so necessary for balance. Good abuse isn't about gore, it's about what the fluffy experiences. Hugbox helps you relate with the things, so when they're treated with malevolence you get the full picture of how wrong it is for them. Even if a creature was created artificially, it's still an animal that comprises of instincts that were developed as an effect of natural selection. The canon that says that fluffies are perfect toys made for love and hugs, i.e. animate teddy bears, chases me away from the whole concept instantly.

Real animals have color-based instincts. Yellow and black is a signal of danger (wasps) and animals stay away from it. Red and white is a signal of poison (some mushrooms) and animals will leave them. Green fruit are almost always not yet edible, and animals will choose them only as the last resort and in most cases will leave them be until they are ripe. Brown is a color related to mud and feces. Two things that would be lethal to fluffy creatures that also strongly dislike water. Being dirty would be a disaster for them. Fungus would grow all over them after first rain. It's a huge adaptational (is that a word in english?) disadvantage.

From naturally evolved canon we know that fluffies have strong dislike of bad smells and poop itself, which is perfectly natural and sane. How would such creature be able to identify such danger? By smell and by color. One of their most important survival instincts would tell them to avoid filthy members of their own species. And that's how we come to the idea of permanently filthy fluffies who are rightfully rejected by other fluffies, rightfully at least according to simplistic fluffy logic.

Another point makes itself. How would a fragile fluffy fight other fluffies? Teeth? Nails? Hooves? No, biological warfare. Shitting on a creature like a fluffy is extremely detrimental to its survival chances and would make the best, and if we were to accept the canon about fragile bones, only real tool of fluffy warfare.

But smarties used to run herds beacuse there were few of them and normal fluffies, being submissive, just obeyed them.
