I'd write it as \epsilon_H H, which becomes eH*H in the code. I suppose I could write high_shedder_shedding_rate * num_high_shedders, but that takes up a lot more space and time to write, and can break up the flow.

Typically if you have complex equations (which you get in maths) you really want to avoid long variable names. Applications programmers probably shudder at the thought, but scientific programming is a very different environment.

First, you learn boolean logic operations
then, you learn transistor logic
then, you learn how to build functional units from logic gates
then, you learn CPU design
then, and only then, you learn assembly language
then, after you have mastered assembly language (not dabbled, but mastered it), you learn C
then, after you have mastered C, you may learn the higher-level languages of your choice, but you will always use C and assembly as your primary languages because everything else is unnecessary bloat.

If you want to learn to program, penalty JavaScript, because you can work on it and run it anywhere you can find a web browser.

If you really want to learn to program, then have a look though SICP (Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs). Also look up the Abel and Sussman programming course on YouTube. It's from 1986, but everything they teach is valid stuff. They also use Scheme, which is a dialect of Lisp, the most amazing programming language ever made (Clojure is the most popular modern dialect).

>No, you first have to follow my lead and learn 10 different things before you can even touch that. How DARE you drive a car without being able to build a engine with your bare hands, amirite guys?

In my workplace, I see people use goto still, but only to go to error cleanup in C/C++.

Anyone here has experience in finding work on the internet? I mostly tried freelancing websites like guru.com, I know a bit of android and java, but all of my offers are getting turned down.
Fucking subhuman indians working at $5/hour are taking most of the jobs. And I've seen some of the shit they write, it's complete trash. Yet people keep picking them for badly written software that will have to be either fixed or thrown out and rewritten later.

Both are good to learn. I still use python to quickly make scripts to do little things.

Heh, fair enough. It is an amazing language though, and been around since the 1950s (only Fortran is older).

I do think that JavaScript is a good idea to start with. Not that it's a good language, it's all kinds of horrible, but you can get stuff done in it, it runs pretty much everywhere, it's pretty fast, and you can share it with your friends easily, which is really important. It's like hanging round at a friend's house and programming games on their ZX Spectrum.

That's nice, but you don't need a visa to work from India through the internet.
