If you have shit to prove or just want the experience go for USMC or Army Rangers. If you're smart and want to get as much as you can out of enlistment, you can find lots of opportunities in any branch: look at the MOS, not the branch.

I've always thought it like this .. If I'm going to join then might as well try to be the best of that branch .. For example if your going to go to the navy then might as well and try going to bud/s and becoming a seal .. Or the air force try becoming a PJ .

I'm in the army and they have set me up with a handful of basic IT certs which will be helpful if I ever finish school.

All the services have TA too which is awesome for completing a few classes while you're in.

When I went through basic in the Army all I did was get yelled at. At one point our DS was teaching us about how to pass the rifle range, a dude fell asleep and our DS left. Like he left and went home because he was so pissed off. An hour later, another DS from another platoon came up to our barracks and fucked us up for 3 hours. That was 3 hours of "regulated" pt. Meaning he made us do PT by the books for 3 hours, so that if one of us dropped dead, he'd be okay since he went by the book.
During a land nav course, I went through basic in a february, I got a broken tent. It didn't zip at all, I even said it when I got it issued. My DS said "you'll never use it," during land nav we did, it was 20F outside, and my tent didn't fucking zip. I was blasted with icy air for 8 hours. I almost called to go to medical because I couldn't feel my toes or fingers in the morning.

My best friend is in the Air Force right now, his basic was a luxury. They got drill sgt time, and a lot of book reading, and pansy ass shit I didn't believe could exist from a basic training regime. My buddy didn't even hear about the shit we had to do in his basic training.
