>tfw smoking 3 packs of cigarettes a day
>tfw it's costing me more than 30 dollars a day
>tfw can't afford food sometimes
Anyone here able to quit smoking cigs? Any tips on quitting?
I hear e-cigs help quitting and it should be cheaper too. I just hope you dont live in a socialist communist shithole of EU where they are trying to ban e-cigs because they are evil and hitler liked them too.
i can get 20 creamy lambert n butler for £3 here m8y
they are super pressed
if you roll them you pass on the tar of the paper and you will be able to roll more ciggarettes for you dont press them like a machine, so youre the autist
Try to find nicorate strips
Its like a little plastic tab you put in your mouth and get a full 2.5 mg hit of nicotine. Take one only when you feel cravings coming on really strongly
Like everyone else, try out vaping, but dont turn into one of those "cloud chasing" fags that uses a RDA (rebuildable dripping atomizer). See, even the fact that I know what that is fucking hurts.
Cold Turkey is the only way, really.
Don't go the vape faggotry way. It's expensive, cringy and most people go back to smoking tobacco after a while.
And yes, you have to hard the fuck up for this. The first week will be hell on earth.
I have the perfect remedy for you, my pert butted pal.
>1. Stay in your bed, bring all of us into your bed inside your phone.
>2. Grip onto your wireless controls to control your tv, internet, xbone.
>3. DO NOT GET OUT OF BED
>4. DO NOT GO TO SHOPS
>You can easily last 3 - 4 - 5 days no food, communicating is vital though.
>5. Shower and clean cloths when you must to leave the house. It's vital to believe you're a supermodel whenever you do go ... out ... side ....
I quit back in December. Oldfag here and had been a smoker for 35 years. Was smoking around a pack and half when I quit.
Got Rx for Chantix. The prescription is for 3 months. You're supposed to quit either after the first week or the first month. After 2 and half months I was still smoking. I was literally scared to try and quit. One night I just said "now or never" and quit.
Was it hard? Yes
Did it hurt? No
Do I still want to smoke? Yes, but not nearly as much as the first week or so.
I've been smoking for like 15 years and I still only smoke like 3-5 cigs a day. I'll smoke a whole pack when I'm drinking though. How the fuck can you smoke that much? PS if I were you I'd start vaping.
"Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking"
The guy who wrote it was smoking 100 cigs a day for 30 years.
Best book ever. Helped me quit 4 years ago. Never got the urge since.
God bless OP.
ontariofag here too, these prices are retarded. I went to florida a few years ago, popped into store and couldn't stop laughing when i realized they were selling a pack of marlboros for less than a 3 pack of condoms. i would say switch to natives but those things are awful
Believe it or not, there is only ONE proven way to quit smoking.
It's called "don't put cigarettes into your mouth, don't light them, and don't inhale the toxic fumes they create upon combustion."
Any other quitting method is doomed to fail. This is the only one that works 100% of the time.
t. successful cold-turkey quitter for 3 years.
You could try not smoking, retard.
"How do I brush my teeth, /b/?"
You start by putting toothpaste on the brush, retard.
"How do I start my car, /b/?"
You start by opening the car door and putting the keys in the ignition, retard.
"How do I murder 6,000,000 people without doing anything wrong, /b/?"
You could start by establishing a totalitarian anti-semitic state, retard.
>taking cigarettes apart like a fucking brainless neanderthal
This. Was a two-pack-a-day smoker the last 15 years. Smoked for almost 40, since I was 13.
Worked for me and only a tenth of the cost once you buy the device. That will still set you back less than a carton of smokes and most places will throw in a bottle of juice.
>Hardest part of quitting is having nothing to smoke
Every week double the time between smokes. This week it's every 10 minutes. Next week every 20. Every 40 the next. This way you can ease out of it and once you get down to a couple smokes a week you should have much less trouble quitting.
Vuse... Widely available, packs a decent punch, doorway to douche flute if you want to step your nic down over time... Or, just go straight to the douche flute...
It's cheaper than $10/pack, which is re-goddamned-diculous.... But, thank your legislators for that... I still pay less than $5/pack for premium brands... :D
I picked up the vuse to get me off cigs, which it did whole-heartedly... Protip, get two batt packs so you can have one in service and the other at ready... I am about to switch over to douche flute (vape pen bullshit) in order to step my nicotine down, because Vuse only comes in high-nic...
Unfortunately, vape shit is considered "tobacco products", so it's taxed just as heavily by greedy fuck-bags as cigs are... But, if you can get to 0mg nicotine, you've basically quit and all that's left is to get rid of the vape, which is easier than getting rid of actual drug dependency...
Chantix oldfag again. I tried Blu e-cigs, hated them. Don't know about vuse or any other vapy shit but Blu sucks. Shit made my chest hurt and just made me want the real thing even more.
Oh, also, if you don't like mint like me, Berry and Crema are the only two flavors that don't have a strong 'melting solder' flavor to them... I doubt it's actually melting solder inside (or else you'd be able to taste it on all flavors), but original and chai taste like melting solder...
I smoked for 17 years, quit 15 years ago and never looked back. I have absolutely no desire EVER to smoke. Here's what worked for me:
1. Cop an attitude towards cigarettes. They are controlling your body and mind. This shows everyone that you are an anxiety-ridden, weak ass faggot. Is this really how you want to present yourself?
2. Don't plan a time or date to quit. Don't focus on savoring that 'last cigarette ever'. For me, I woke up one morning after running out of cigs the night before. Instead of buying pack like usual, I didn't- i copped the attitude instead. I kept not buying cigs and not smoking them.
3. Accept that it will be hard at first, but anything worthwhile achieving in life is hard. Like other anons have said, harden the fuck up. Develop RESOLVE. Choose not to be weak anymore. Get through the first day, then week, ect. Everyday gets a little easier.
4. Look at any time you have not smoked as an investment that you will LOSE if you smoke even once- all that work down the shitter, because you were weak for a minute.
I have more if this interests you.
Yeah, I tried Blu too, wasn't the best... Their whole "use the charger to charge the pack to charge the ecig" bullshit was too much for me, though they did have the better flavors imho... Vuse has more nic, so going straight from cig to Vuse is a lot easier. It took me three days to be cig-free on Vuse, took me a week to finally give up on the Blu and go back to Camels...
my old man made my brother smoke, inhale, take bites of and swallow a cheap cigar until he turned green an puked. that's when parents didn't have to be worried about getting tossed in prison for raising their kids.
i'm 35 you little twat.
Depends on what you're doing.... When I worked sheetrock and other construction jobs, I'd find myself going through three packs easily.... Not that I was actually smoking them, but that I'd light one, take two or three puffs, and keep plugging at work, eventually letting the cig burn to the butt... Then, when I needed another drag, I had nothing so I needed to light another! I wasn't smoking the 3 packs a day I was smoking... But, that was also back when they were less than 3 bucks a pack for premiums...
Let's say 60 cigarettes per day... It takes me 3 minutes to smoke a cigarette, meaning it takes him about 180 minutes a day to smoke, 3 hours a day on smoking.. Daily? Wow.
3 years? Dude, you got the easy addiction now, brah.... Quitting now will be a LOT easier than quitting in 10 years...
Also, don't rely on a drug to ease your anxiety; face your demons, or they'll chase you forever...
Silly Canadians and their "decks" of cigarettes.....
Any Albertans in here? I've only ever smoked Export A red. Fucking safeway gas bar sells them at $16, while this indian guy down the street sells them at $14 for the same shit.
What's the cheapest brand anyways?
Have you tried dipping? I was at 2 packs a day, use to drive a truck all day. Switched to dip, dipped for about 6 months, then gave it up completely. Only time I dip now is when I'm hammered drunk
5. Keep your eye on the goal. You want your life to be easier, right? Well, cigarettes will never allow that. Ran out at 2 am in the middle of a rainstorm? Too bad, faggot- go to the 7-11 and get some more. Did I leave one burning in the house before I left? Do I need to run back home and check? Add your own inconveniences that cigarettes cause.
6. ALWAYS keep in mind that the only thing cigarettes are relieving is the anxiety that they create in the first place. They are trolling your brain and treating you like a bitch. Fuck that fucking shit.
Just cut down m8. Don't do it too fast or you'll get sick.
Used to smoke over a pack a day, last month I've cut that down to 5-10 cigarettes a day.
Ontario here as well
Nah nigga, 25KS is anywhere from 10.5 to 13.5 (for belmonts) at the store I get them at-which is really cheap as well
Kek yeah. Government is fucking us hard on tobacco taxes
>tfw smoking 3 packs of cigarettes a day
>3 packs a day
I don't believe you, OP. That's some straight up bullshit. You would have to smoke about 4 cigs an hour to go through three packs a day.
If you really do, your lungs must be blown the fuck out. I'm a smoker. I only smoke one to two a day, and that irritates and pains my lungs. I can't imagine what three packs a day would do.
It's still pretty funny having cigarettes in your mouth for 3+ hours a day he's like a cartoon or something.
>20 year pack a day smoker here. Quit after attempt 12. Tried cold turkey, patches, vape, e-cig, and Chantix. Finally successful with Chantix (2nd Rx), smoke free since October 2015.
Most people who quit try at least 7 times before being successful. Don't give up, keep trying.
Cut back before attempting to quit. I agree with what others said. If you smoke every 10 minutes, try and wait for every 20. Get a hobby, something to turn to when you want to smoke. I also turned to sunflower seeds as it mimics the hand to mouth movement of smoking (drink plenty of extra water cuz all the extra sodium intake).
You will only quit when/if you truly want to. If you do quit, remember non-smokers don't smoke once in a while...they don't smoke. So forget the idea of "I haven't smoked for a few days/weeks/months I'll just have one", one is all it takes to get back in the habit.
Cold turkey is not the only way, although statistics show it has the greatest rate of success
All jokes aside, switch to ecigs/vaping man. Get of those ciggys!
I had the most success with the patch, but even then I got back into it after a couple of months. This time I'm going with the patch and am going to supplement with the gum afterwords when I get those out-of left-field cravings. The gum serves two purposes: Gives me a slight boost of nicotine, and it makes me sick to my stomach. So every time I crave a cigarette I will associate it with wanting to vomit and eventually I won't even need the gum.
Thing is, I have never gone higher than a half-pack a day. You have a serious issue with the three a day. How do you even maintain that pace? Maybe you could try weed. Just intake enough to where you don't want to move from the fucking couch. Become one with it and stay like that until your cravings die down to a pack a day. Honestly though, I think you are beyond saving.
>I had the most success with the patch, but even then I got back into it after a couple of months.
That's because patches and nicotine replacements being effective is controversial. Some studies show it's addictive additives in cigs, not nicotine, that keeps you hooked. Hence why a nicotine replacement, such as patches, might fail.
Studies showed manufacturers put chemicals smiliar to zoloft in cigs.
Haven't smoked in a year, quit cold turkey. Physical cravings were practically zero after about a month. For the most part it's all in your mind. At the end of the day I'm not gonna let a little tube of tobacco and paper control me. It's all in the mind op, first week is hell, second week you'll doubt that you'll succeed. Mind over matter.
Have you ever smoked? Pipe tobacco tastes like ass, and loose is not much cheaper since its usually taxed by weight. Considering the effort involved, it would be better to just grow a fucking backbone and smoke less.
used to smoke a pack a day, than cut it to a half .. now ill just smoke a loosey here and there .. its annoying as fuck, but when i get a craving i try to drink coffee or just let it pass listening to a song or some shit .. good luck bro, 3 packs a day is gnarly
Op I've "quit" twice. Each time lasting about 3-4 months. The hardest part is willpower. You have to tell yourself NO! and resist all temptation. The first time I quit, I used the skoal pouches to help. It worked, but on occasion after I would still have a dip. The second time was more cold turkey. Was broke AF, and just said fuck it. Went closer to 4 months before I again said fuck it, going back to smoking.
Best advice, is keep at it. Commit and execute. After a couple days it gets easier. Think of a medication you've been on you went off, and the cool down time before you returned to normal. Might be grouchy, might kill someone, might even rape a nun or two, but you can get through it. Seriously it sounds stupid but just believe in yourself that you are capable of doing it and you can do it. Self doubt is what gets you in trouble. Good luck op.
1 - I was just like you, I stopped, and said "no" to everyone who would offer me. Also, I did some other stuff, when thought of buying a pack.
2 - Don't stop. Five months and I still dream about it.
Yeah, that's 60 cigarettes a day. Just picture all of those in your lungs, holy fuck.
I would love to see which studies you refer to that claim nicotine is not the addictive substance in cigarettes that cause dependence. Hopefully they explain why cigarettes were addictive before big tobacco was even around.
Not for me, but damn OP I wanna see you run sometime I feel bad for smoking 4 cigarettes a day.
lmao faggot I'm not even the other guy. You could not be more wrong, and telling the guy to prove YOUR bullshit is essentially accepting a loss, because god knows he is never going to find anything.
Additives have been placed in cigs for a long ass time, moron. Smoking didn't really become an epidemic until major brands hit America decades ago – brands that have admitted to putting addictive additives in their products.
This. Smoked for ten years too, was feeling good within a week and a half. Down to using the vape only a couple times a week after 6 months (no cigs). I HAVE SAVED SO MUCH MONEY!
I got a few different kinds, vapes pens and e-cigs. My favorite was the Joye150 from Joyetech. It's very light and thin, works great and was only $30 from where I got it.
Once you realise no one will ever love you except loose toothed stinkbags you will find enough reason to quit.
Or don't and just be a slave to a company that doesn't care it's killing you. Scumbag
maybe 3.50/pack in your state or county. Cost in the US varies greatly between states. WA state they are $6+ up to $9, right across the bridge in oregon they are about $2/pack cheaper
>It's not like life is worth it.
this man has lost all hope, i fucking love it!
Too late now just keep doing it.
Your smoking 3 of what? Tens or twenties?
If its ten than you are lying about the price, and if it is twenty then you are lying about it all, cus you would be smoking 60 a day, and seen as your only awake for about 16-18 hours a day thats roughly 4 fags an hour which is a fag every 15 minutes, and im guessing that you are not in retirement, in which case you would be smoking all through work/school, and every cig you finish would almost instantly lead to the next one
I was 2 packs a day of Camels for about 8 years. I picked up a decent vape thingie, and stepped my nicotine level down over three months. Did a month on 0 nicotine, then just quit buying juice. So far so good, haven't touched anything with nicotine in a few months now, feel like I can keep going. I will say I tried the vape thing a couple times, didn't stick until I got a good setup. Buy once cry once. I can't recommend the TFV4 enough. It's the first thing I tried that was every bit as convenient as cigarettes m
It helped me quit.
Now I barely vape.
Once in a while with a beer.
Smoker for almost 20 years.
1.5 years free.
trip dubs, chek'd
Im not interested enough in researching them, merely stating I doubt the studies you claim exist...and if they do, I doubt their scientific validity.
>a long ass time
Care to define? Tobacco was addictive long before big tobacco existed... i.e. during the times of the pilgrims, post U.S. I'm not denying their are other chemicals in smokes, I do disagree with the claim that nicotine is not the primary substance which causes dependence on tobacco.
Exactly, which is why I stated >>684878775
There's no way we can disprove OP via /b/. But I've been around a lot of heavy smokers, and the most I've seen them smoke is about two packs a day.
Ontario anon here too. used to smoke a pack and a half of green deaths a day but switched to natos and i cut down because they are that fucking bad but i only cut half a pack. you never get enough nicotine but they're so awful you'll try to hold out on the next one.
>I doubt their scientific validity.
Euphoric. An anon on /b/ doubts scholarly studies. You must be right. KEK
Oh, and *tips fedora*
Step 1: Fucking mean it...that means you REALLY want to quit...not just talk about quitting!!!
Step 2: Acupuncture...3-1 hour sessions, then annual follow up till you see fit!!!
That's how I did it...been smoke free since 2009...was a 2 pack a day smoker for 17 years!!!
Tablet called champix helped me quit
You probably already have stage 4. Just keep smoking
Find a girl into bdsm and tell her its your secret fantasy to be locked up for 3 days with minimal food and water. That'll get you locked up for the three day bump which is the hardest part of quitting.
may be true, but the amount of tobacco/nicotine is still the same
much easier to buy nice cig tobacco to roll with (see pic)
Im aware, i've tried many times to stop smoking, and have cut down to about 7 cigs a day, but my point is when you know you aren't going to be able to eat, why would you spend 30 a day on them. I used to smoke a pack a day and when i realised that i was burning money, i just stopped buying so much. My only advice is to buy a pack of fags, smoke them slower, and not buy another until the next day, but always keep a cig for before bed, thats the worst time when quitting in my opinion
Nah, I'm a white guy. I'm old enough to have realised that success, happiness and fulfillment has very little to do with employment. My job isn't entry level, but there's nothing wrong with labor intensive jobs.
go take a shower, i'll be coming up after to see how clean you are.
mate, i would kill to have $10 packs of smokes. ausfags like me have to pay $20us for a halfway decent deck. anyway, i've quit. those nicotine patches/lozenges really helped. if anything, lozenges were better because they gave you something to chew on.
Shotgun mouthwash is quickest way to quit.
Other than that, you can start hating yourself for even starting this shit hobby.
But it's ok, you can probably eat cigs if you're starving.
Cigarettes are a dumb cunt tax... ur a dumb cunt
>my point is when you know you aren't going to be able to eat, why would you spend 30 a day on them
Addiction effects people differently. Go talk to danny tanner who used to suck dick for coke (props to old fags who get the reference) Addiction is not the same for everyone, and no causal link between addiction, or severity thereof, and intelligence has been demonstrated.
>(props to old fags who get the reference)
jump off a bridge.
Nicotine addiction is for fags.
My roommate is such a fag, his throat is killing him with pain, he smokes joints and cigs everyday and already tried to stop smoking 7 or 8 times. He just can't let it be.
Here's the joke, he is a hippocrite about stuff like:
>he is sick
>but keeps smoking
>I tell him to stop
>he says he has this cough like 6 years and the pain for longer
>I remark that he started smoking 6 years ago > already told him before doc that he sounds sick when he coughs
>doesn't belive me until doctor valids my thoughts
> his doctor tells him he wasted his lung pretty good and is like the one of a 55 y.o. smoker
Kek only on /b/ a conversation derails so much. From smoking to a trap with a skirt and a daddy fetish...
Also nice ass nohomo.
What wrong with book? What book ever do to you?
Quitting smoking is easy. I've done it hundreds of times.
>arrange new habits to replace smoking
like raping kids?
same here. nice to be outside and smoke all day.
here's an idea
next time you go to buy some cigarettes, don't buy the cigarettes instead
then, you won't have any more cigarettes so when you want to smoke one, you can't!
then, continue not buying cigarettes
buy bulk pipe cut and roll your own. can usually get a pound of vision hunter for 20. that like 500+ cigs for $20 + about 5-6 bucks worth of papers.
>this guy thinks it works like that
alcoholic here and I live a 2 minute walk from a liquor store and even when I can't afford alcohol I still end up at the liquor store buying liquor on my credit cards. Addiction isn't fun
Seriously, only retards smoke cigarettes. it's not like it gives you anything good like marijuana. on the other hand it just gives you cancer, bad breathe, less taste for your food and fuckton of other negative influences on your body. just stop, go to a sauna 3 days, let your body clean itself and after 30 days it should be a lot easier. after 90 days you're out of that shit for good.
Not who you were responding to, but I'll tell you what it looks like from a 48 year oldfag point of view. Traps, cucks, an astounding lack of creativity, predictable, banal and benign. Frankly, all I see is weakness and self loathing. Once in a while I see a quality thread, but they usually don't last long because the average attention span and intellect here is about equivalent to a comatose 4 year old. Faggots.
10 for a pack of 20 Canadian classic crush. Oshawa Ontario. Used to smoke natives but they fucking suck. Only smoke a few a day unless I'm outside or on drugs, then I chain smoke
