No, it is not recognized as a mental disorder by a huge part of the leftist community, not to mention many doctors who are basically advocating people to transition and even putting kids below the age of 10(!) on hormonal blockers.

Transitioning doesn't help people either, as the suicide rates according to many studies is just as high - even higher in some studies - than for those who haven't transitioned. Recent studies also show that 70-80% of young people who have at one time felt they 'were born in the wrong body/with the wrong brain' spontaneously lose those feelings over time. Jjust check out the former head psychiatrist of Johns Hopkins, the institution that was basically leading in terms of helping people transition, and what he has to say now after intensive research. They've even completely quit transitioning people because they realized it was a huge mistake, that people should be put on therapy and medicine instead.

I mean, there are people who one day wake up and think they're clinically dead, or that the arm they have doesn't belong to them. We don't kill these people nor do we cut off their arm in order to conform delusion to fantasy - we treat them properly. The same should be done to transgender people instead of allowing mentally ill people to mutilate their own bodies to the point of no-return, when there is no evidence that this helps at all.

I think that in 50 years time we will look back at all this and ask ourselves how we could ever have been so cruel not only to let these people hurt themselves, but actively advocate it in the name of tolerance. We don't tell people who suffer from paranoid schizophrenia that they are right, that the toaster and radio actually are out to kill them, because that is inhumane.
