Sometimes I like to believe that when we die our souls are phased off to another planet to live our lives out there, A planet more technology advanced, meaning we would have transporters or be able to visit another planet in a blink with hyper-drived ships, or we'd be put in a planet that was much much less technologically advanced, back to caveman times. Which planet you were phased to would depend on your actions in this world we're in now, if you do something to advance this world, something important, you'd be sent off to the more technologically advanced world, to help further progress it. On the other hand if you fail to do any good in the world you're sent to the less advanced world, as a second chance of sorts, to do something there that would advance that world and move you on to the next tier planet.

Not really. Some crazy equations equal out to there being around 10 possible planets per galaxy that can harbor life, harbor intelligent life, and let technology happen. For a better idea on this look at how our iron supply came to be. Almost all iron used to be in the core entirely inaccessible while the 0.001% left floated evenly among the rest of the crust and mantle. This would have long long ago settled back into the core if not for algae that happened to need iron to live. The algae took the dirty dead oxygenless earth and used the iron and water to make oxygen as a by product of their life cycle. The earth became oxygenated as a result but also warmed up and became too oxygenated for the algae to live. The iron rich algae died and fell like snow to cover that ancient ocean. That dead layer of iron rich algae is what we're currently mining today and is the only iron supply we have AND why we're even here breathing oxygen. Now each of those possible intelligent life harboring planets had to go through something INSANELY similar or have an even unlikelier thing happen to get the iron they need to make tech. No iron definitely means no chance at meaningful technology which means even if they did exist as intelligent beings we'd never find them or even know they existed unless for some reason we decided to land on some random planet and the chance of us landing on every planet ever on the almost 0 chance that theres life isn't feasible. Likewise if they've existed much longer than we have we'd also never find them through transmissions as they'd use highly compress data formats to get the most bang out of there buck for communication and even between here and the moon data at the level we can compress now sounds like undistinguishable static let alone super compressed stuff higher tech could pop out.
