Btw, I am from and live in Arizona, currently, just outside of Phoenix, in what is probably the only ghetto of what is an overall really nice city. Also, I am in my 30s and have tried to stay out of trouble and away from bad parts of town, so I don't have many stories to share. However, it would be cool to get to read some thoughts and opinions on the gehtto cities in America and some personal stories about them.

No, Scottsdale, near 68th Street and Thomas. It's not like it's even a bad part of town, more like, a bad block. There's a Circle K on 68th St. just north of Thomas that is seriously fucking ghetto. And the particular block I live near is pretty fucking ghetto, and I'm literally one of the only white people who live on it.

I am originally from Chandler, born and raised, then I lived in Payson for many years, then back to Chandler for a few months, then to east Mesa for a few months, then had to move somewhere in a hurry and the landlord/owner of the place where I'm currently living was looking for a tenant at the time and let me move in without running my credit or background, so I moved in here and have been paying $560/month for the past years or so.

Where exactly are you from/do you live now? And have you been to any of the bad parts of Phoenix? If so, where? And what do you think of them? Does Phoenix have some legitimately bad/dangerous areas?

Actors are all generally pretty cool. I was up at val kilmers house in santa fe for a party and hes weird but cool. Bryan cranston would bring us breakfast burritos in the AM. Harrison ford and daniel craig were cool, met them doing cowboys and aliens.

Basically, the story went something like this:

As for Camden being a really shitty place, in the same thread that the guy shared the story about getting jumped, another person also posted, a white kid (around 16-17, iIrc), and told a story about having gotten lost after driving his parents car home from a concert and ending up in Camden. I don't recall the specifics, but I think he was at a stop sign/stoplight and just got ambushed by someone on the street who smashed through his side window and dragged him out of the car. Ultimately, he said that he ended up getting curbed-stomped and almost died, literally. He said that the only thing that saved his life was some foreign shop-owner running outside with a shotgun and screaming at the people trying to beat him to death. And this happened because he was a white kid driving a nice car through their neighborhood.

I hadn't realized it, but based on lots of posts in previous threads, New Jersey apparently has several absolutely terrible cities in it. Besides Camden, people have claimed that Patterson, East Orange, Trenton, Newark, and Jersey City are all ghetto cities with rampant crime and truly dangerous areas. Overall, though, it seems as though almost everyone agrees that Camden is the worst city in NJ; and, likely, the most-dangerous/fucked-up city on the East Coast. People have compared Camden to a little Detroit. And many people have stated the same thing about Flint, Gary, and East St. Louis.

So, is anyone looking to post some stories tonight??

What's funny about it, is that Milwaukee is one of these remaining quintessential Rust Belt old industrial towns that grew fast, established entrenched power hierarchies among the heavily segregated & rigid immigrant cultures that supplied the workers, and when you go there, the food is german in the german parts, polish in the polish parts, italian in the italian parts, and horrible in the black parts. Places are either shitty and wrecked, or they're owned by a supremely wealthy board of corporate investors and are restored to look imposing and turn of the century corporate to modern corporate. The stink of the brewery is there, the pollution of the rail yards & old abandoned shipping and heavy industries in the swamp-turned valley. Poverty is everywhere in between, crime is in plain sight, the neighborhoods vary from slummy to very fucking slummy, with a few streets of multi million dollar estates on the waterfront. HOWEVER, the city of Madison is only about an hour and a half straight west down the highway, and Madison is the polar opposite of Milwaukee. It's the state capital, the big biotech & medical research university is there, there are young people from everywhere and culture and good food, crime is low, art and music flourish. Natually, it's full of young people and famous for containing nearly all our liberals.

But here's the thing. Iin 37 years of living right between them, most of my friends hail from one or the other. ...but I've never once in all these years met anyone, from Milwaukee, that goes to Madison, and only a handful of people from Madison that have ever been to Milwaukee. Even mention the name of the other city, and people get a strange look on their face, like they only vaguely remember of hearing that such a city exists once upon a time, ages ago. People just do not do it.

Also, the rest of the state is quite beautiful, very hilly, and full of dense forests and endless rivers and lakes.

A few people have claimed that Philadelphia and Chester, Pa, are as bad as/possibly worse than Camden, but they have been in the minority. Yep, I've lived in St Louis and a number of times feeling adventurous I dragged a couple friends over to the east side of the river. We were robbed every time, but you know going over, to just bring a 20, so they appreciate getting something out of you and don't just get pissed and shoot you, but don't clean you out either. St Louis was fun for about the first month. Some pretty sketchy parts, but downtown and by the landing was always fun, and depending on where you go, it's dumpy, but relatively safe dumpy. Fucked a lot of girls there. Bored girls with low expectations in life are easy to pick up...

The most dangerous guys were actually the white guys that would travel with the black gangs, because they always had something to prove, and being white yourself makes you the target. I stayed about a year too long on account of some girl. Used to fuck her in the sculpture park out by crestwood.

I'm 20. I absolutely do fucking not have any pictures of Brownsville and never plan on going there... Unlike Camden (which is severely overgrown and dilapidated), Brownsville is absolutely barren. No plants, trees, anything. Pretty much like, 80% of Brownsville is govt housing projects, people shitting and pissing in the hallways, shootings, power shortages etc... horrible.

The guy from the Instagram : Humans of New York went there about 2 months ago and took some powerful photos with crazy stories if you're interested. I have 2 black guy friends from Canarsie Brooklyn (which is rough) who say that Brownsville isn't safe for anyone and they try to avoid it at all costs.

I used to usually have D.C. on the list, and Baltimore, two cities that are definitely deserving of being on the list, but I wrote a new list just as I started this thread and was trying to hurry up and get it finished, as I hate typing.

As for D.C., though, many people have claimed that the city has been gentrified in recent years and that it is nowhere near as dangerous and violent as it was during the crack epidemic days in the '80s and '90s. I live in Ohio, and I go to a good amount of sports games in downtown Cleveland. Lemme tell you, you do not want to be walking to your car after the game at night. If you stay with the other mildly drunk white people in the nice parts of downtown, you're normally fine. You can tell where the city starts to go to shit; if you end up in one of those alleys, you're fucked.

That's funny you mentioned New Britain. I'm from a very rural area in nj and I've only been to a handful of cities, New Britain being one of them. I was young at the time (14?) and was visiting a family friend. I went down the street to the skate park with my buddy and we could've swore we heard a gun shot, which freaked us the fuck out since this was our first time ever out in a city by ourselves. This was broad daylight, mind you.

IMO, that's a very nice gun to be carrying on you. I am not familiar with the Gen 2 models, but I know that back in the day (keep in mind, I'm almost 40 now), the Glock 17 meant that the magazine held 17 rounds, and that you could get a Plus 2 extender and have 19 rounds, plus 1 more in the chamber, if you chose to carry that way (personally, I did not like to carry with one in the chamber, but I do understand how that can actually be of life-saving benefit in the right situation). How many rounds does your Gen 2 Glock 17 hold?

Also, how difficult is it go get a license to carry in Missouri? I am from and live in Arizona, which has some of the most-relaxed gun laws in the country. Nowadays, as long as you are of age (21 now, I think) and don't have a felony or DV conviction, in Arizona, you can not only buy and carry a gun, but you can conceal it, even on your body, without any sort of permit whatsoever. For law-abiding citizens, this is a very nice thing, as it helps you to have the means and opportunity to carry personal protection at all times.

OP here, I was born and raised in America (in the state of Arizona, to be precise) and I am proud and grateful to be from and live in this country, but I can't really dispute what you stated in this post.
