Everyone in this fucking thread is retarded...
6/2(1+2) = ?
Okay, now stay with me on this... okay?
Just hold up on this... I got it all figured out...
6/2(1+2) = 6/2(1+2)
Boom. How fucking hard was that?
Multiplication does not have priority over division, nigger. You do all operations in parentheses, and then multiplication OR division, whatever comes first. Then addition OR subtraction.
Can also be BIDMAS
Brackets Indices Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction
Means you do (1+2) first, getting 3, then you do the multiplication, 2*3, getting 6 and divide it by 6, getting 1.
Thread is b8 anyway
When given a series of operations of the same rank (e.g. division and multiplication) and no other indication of order such as parenthesis, operations proceed left to right.
So this becomes 6 / 2 *(3) = 9
It is *because* of the ambiguity of the question, however, that any sane mathematician would clarify the question and avoid just being a troll thread.
Answer is 1.
You cannot divide 6/2 first without expanding the parantheses.
2(1+2) = 6
6/6 = 1
It should be written as;
2(1 + 2)
Also, this whole thread is a shitty troll which relies on peoples 6th grade understanding of the order of operations without ever having done proper calculus.
