Fallout 2 is objectively the best. Pic very related.

I couldn't into the early fallouts. Just not a fan of the isometric view.
Couldn't into planescape either. I'm probably missing out on a shitload, but aw well.

I recently went through and played Planescape, I wish the combat was turn based but other than that is was pretty awesome. I swear about 80% of that game is reading.

i've spent hours reading fallout lore on the wiki and most of the shit anyone cares about happens in 3 and vegas.
the remnants and super mutant leader are really cool but they are extinct now, hence the older games are not only inferior in graphics but lore as well.

I liked them both rather equally, though it is hard to play them at times due to not being used to turn based games anymore, but i'll still play both from time to time.

I've always been a fan of turn based RPGs. Graphics don't matter too much to me. If the gameplay is fun that's all I require

Fallout 2 was pretty much better in every way except for the main villain. The Master in Fallout 1 seemed a lot more reasonable than any of the nut jobs at the oil rig.

I would start with 2 - its a LOT more acceasible than 1. Once you get past the shitty intro and pick up your first gun it gets great. Dont give up until you have got at least that far - use a guide if you have to.


I just finished a no companions brawling-only run - it looks primitive but I would say it has more variety and possibilities than 3 or NV.

94% critical hit chance is crazy as well as hitting 6 times a turn. Really fun challenge run - the progression of running away from radscorpions to one shotting super mutants is super fun.

10/10 would reccomend.

Fallout 2 by a longshot.
Complete freedom along with an excellent, hilarious script bundled with more pop culture references than you know what to do with and greatly improved gameplay.

Fallout 3 and NV are good if you mod the fuck out of them.
Still, can't change the shitty writing in F3.
NV is more similar to Fallout 2 as far as writing goes.
Chris Avellone probably had something to do with it.

This Fonline server is all about PvP. We were taunting the other factions to come try and take this point we were holding. There is Line of Sight in Fonline and it plays a big roll. Were waiting for the scout of the enemy faction to pop his head around the corner and we will all blow him away. This Fonline isn't turn based though, it's all in real time. So its hard to get an action screenshot

It's also kinda hard to tell whats going on because I had my files modded where instead of walls it showed up as those little hexagons on the ground. The walls would block part of the ground and sometimes it was hard to loot stuff by them

For me the first person view was a real down side of the newer fallouts.
I know, with things like COD being so popular, a game would only get millions upon millions of funding if its a FPS intended for consoles.


They are really great well put together games with awesome characters, locations, storylines, weapons etc.
But I seemed to spend most of the game squinting in dark pixely corners searching for for scraps of loot.

Wasteland 2 was really enjoyable to play. Because it had a modern top down engine.
They basically started with the same goal as FO1 and 2 but added all the technology that has been devleoped over the past decade. They fixed all the bugs like pathing and all the issues you get when you try to do too much with an isometric viewpoint.

As a game it wasnt as well fleshed out as any fallout game. But the engine was miles better. For me.

I say go for it. The games prob not worth more than 15 bucks, but its nice to support a dev who isnt a complete shithead. Hopefully wasteland 3 will be better funded and awesome.

The game is a 7/10 - really fun for the first 5-10 hours, then gets boring fast. I have 30 hours logged, but i wasnt really enjoying the last 10 hours much at all.

I would definitely recommend it. If you get it on sale.
Its not a bad game. People just had astronomical expectations.

It was released too early. So the ending is not what it ought to have been.
But with recent patches the huge loading times have been fixed, and so have the game breaking quest bugs in the final areas.

The tactics are simplistic. But still more advanced than any of the other fallout games.

The real issue is that Its just 10% of the scope that any of the other fallout games cover. Storyline wise.
You encounter areas where you can tell they really intended to flesh everything out but ran out of time.

Someone just needs to grab this engine, and write a really really cool story without the timepressure of a kick starter. Then you would have a game that really captures the spirit of the original fallouts.
