FFXII is objectively the 2nd best final fantasy game, behind IX.

It has a decent story with tons of content, and a huge open world with so much to explore and do. Everytime you leave town to go to some mineshaft or dungeon, it really feels like you are setting out on an adventure. It's a kind of magical feeling that other FF games have a hard time mimicking.
