>>584966171 I feel like I'm probably at least partly a sociopath or a psychopath
>no empathy >no true guilt, only portrayed guilt to seem normal >get pleasure from manipulating people and causing them distress or pain >constant need for hedonistic satisfaction >constant desire to dominate others or make them feel small
>>584970627 Yeah i knew it was heading in that direction. Im not calling mysely a sociopath and i probably arent one. But it cant be mentally good for you when you can watch people being burned alive and tortured without even blinking?
I am not sure though i lie to everyone i meet and manipulate them into getting whatever i want and if they dont i usually try my best to make their life shitty as hell. Life is too short for playing nice. Manipulation and blackmail make everything easier
>>584970780 Of course it's not good for you, but here's the way I look at it. All we are doing is watching society, as long as we don't take action and start murdering people then we are perfectly fine
>>584970780 It's not good for you of course, but you're the one who controls how much of that you let in, you don't have to let it affect you, you don't have to enjoy it though, or wish to recreate it. Your overexposure to that sort of material has left you almost indifferent towards it, but that doesn't mean you can't be a normal part of society.
Sorry guys, the thing I listed was for antisocial personality disorder, which is a closely related illness but its not the same thing. Antisocial disorder is more of a low IQ version, people who are more like thugs compared to a real sociopath. Heres a more accurate list of traits:
Superficial charm and good "intelligence" Absence of delusions and other signs of irrational thinking Absence of "nervousness" or psychoneurotic manifestations Unreliability Untruthfulness and insincerity Lack of remorse or shame Inadequately motivated antisocial behavior Poor judgment and failure to learn by experience Pathologic egocentricity and incapacity for love General poverty in major affective reactions Specific loss of insight Unresponsiveness in general interpersonal relations Fantastic and uninviting behavior with drink and sometimes without Suicide rarely carried out Sex life impersonal, trivial, and poorly integrated Failure to follow any life plan
>>584972172 Disregard for right and wrong Persistent lying or deceit to exploit others Using charm or wit to manipulate others for personal gain or for sheer personal pleasure Intense egocentrism, sense of superiority and exhibitionism Recurring difficulties with the law Repeatedly violating the rights of others by the use of intimidation, dishonesty and misrepresentation Child abuse or neglect Hostility, significant irritability, agitation, impulsiveness, aggression or violence Lack of empathy for others and lack of remorse about harming others Unnecessary risk-taking or dangerous behaviors Poor or abusive relationships Irresponsible work behavior Failure to learn from the negative consequences of behavior
We had a social experiment or something during my studies. Everyone got a simple list of questions and we should fill out a total of 60 points on every question or something, I didn't think much of it back then, and answered pretty honestly. Turned out I was the only person who had 57 points in the red answers, which was not very good. The girl who was monitoring the test came to me afterwards and advised to get through a course of social training because my results show that I am way too egoistic and "people hater". The test itself was shit, though, cause all the questions were related to working in teams and helping others. Not my fault that I am working best alone and not really keen on helping others. So all that sociopath thingy may be just a result of misinterpretation of social signals others recieve from you.
To anyone genuinely interested in the psychology behind sociopaths/psychopaths, I recommend reading the book The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson. It's a disscussion about the Hare Psychopathy Checklist, which is kind of a "standardized" test for determining psychopathy. It also talks about things such as psychopathy in the media, how highly functioning psychopaths can be in society and even more so in buisiness. It's really interesting, go read it fags.
>>584972172 Ok, let's do this again >Superficial charm and good "intelligence" yes >Absence of delusions and other signs of irrational thinking yes >Absence of "nervousness" or psychoneurotic manifestations I don't fully understand this. > Unreliability yes, often. > Untruthfulness and insincerity I don't think so >Lack of remorse or shame yes >Inadequately motivated antisocial behaviour I don't know >Poor judgment and failure to learn by experience I think I learn >Pathologic egocentricity and incapacity for love I don't think so >General poverty in major affective reactions yes > Specific loss of insight I don't fully understand >Unresponsiveness in general interpersonal relations yes >Fantastic and uninviting behavior with drink and sometimes without yes >Suicide rarely carried out um... yes >Sex life impersonal, trivial, and poorly integrated yes >Failure to follow any life plan I'm dining pretty well lately.
Idk, maybe, I don't really want to label myself with or without a professional. I suppose it can help to understand yourself, but I think I know myself in detail without needing to know if I fit a category. I do know I have something loose in my brain that makes it an effort for me to function smoothly with other people, but no-one is 100% functional.
>>584972928 You have friends, but what exactly does that mean? People like you, but do you really like them? You said you feel little empathy, so how does this affect your relationships? Do you ever do evil shit?
>>584973576 >you have many friends, but what exactly does that mean? exactly what it says. I have plenty of people that invite me out to parties, events, etc that genuinely enjoy hanging out with me
>people like you, but do you really like them? I like a small amount of them, but it's impossible to like everyone that likes you, so that doesn't mean shit
>you said you have little empathy so how does that effect your relationships? Relationships don't last too long, but if you know anything about women then you know that they love it when you don't give a fuck and have a strong opinion
>do you ever do evil shit? like I said, I would never physically harm somebody, and emotional harm is something you can deal with easily, so I guess sometimes I do bad things. Nothing I would define as "evil" though
>>584974653 No I should have specified it was in the past. I was just drugged heavily with benzos for 6 days and not given any scripts after they let me out. Now I work a crappy job to not starve and can't return to school. Living the dream
>>584975193 Yep, everyone here is retarded, & you are too. Both terms sociopathy & psychopathy have been mixed together to create Antisocial personality disorder, it's this term that is used nowadays when doing personality disorder tests, none of sociopathy or psychopathy are took seriously by the medical community, they aren't used officially. And they never were, psychopathy nor sociopathy have ever been an official mental disorder, it's just average people/social media who use it exceedingly only to sound edgy
>>584966171 Nope... also, being being socially awkward does not make you a sociopath, neither does being an emotional cripple...you're just fucking ackward..and you'll either grow out of it...or die alone pretending that you are an edgy sociopath
I meant to ask how you feel about your friends in general. Im not a doctor, but from what I know a sociopath would never really feel "close" to anyone. They might enjoy being with someone, but they are doing it for their own stimulation, and they wont care much if the friendship ends
>Relationships don't last too long,
Have you ever been in love? I dont think true sociopaths are capable of it.
Do you love anyone? (different from being IN love)
>>584966171 thought i was for a time, then realized that all of my friends are, a couple raped a girl at least once, knows they did it and seem to be completely fine with it. Another has no sense of social norms whatsoever, when we're all smoking he'll just try and hog it all
Maybe everyone is self serving to some extent, but not everyone is manipulative, criminal, and sadistic. You might not be a sociopath but you definitely share some of the traits, traits that arent exactly common
>>584976325 You can't be diagnosed as one. On the other hand you can be diagnosed as having antisocial PD. There are literally no measures to be taken for antisocial personality disorder, in the worse case they keep you a month in a mental psyche & you're free to go
>>584976106 yea it's not so bad but I have what they called chronic pain syndrome which sucks pretty hard. Retail for a local company. It's ok but pays the bills at least. How you doing today at least?
>>584975871 >I meant to ask how you feel about your friends in general. Im not a doctor, but from what I know a sociopath would never really feel "close" to anyone. They might enjoy being with someone, but they are doing it for their own stimulation, and they wont care much if the friendship ends
Isn't that what friendships are for? Personal stimulation? Finding someone that makes YOU happy? I've never heard of a "friendship" where both parties aren't happy. And to answer the other part of your question, I don't feel close too much.
>Have you ever been in love? I dont think true sociopaths are capable of it
Most phsycopaths/sociopaths are fucking retards and end up in the jail system, but it's the smart ones we hear about. Imagine being able to totally use people and manipulate them without giving a single fuck. Like I'm talking really fuck like kill someone's child. They know they can get away with it, their only drive is the become in control of the surroundings.
>>584977086 What Im trying to say is that a sociopath is only in it for the personal stimulation. They dont care about the other persons feelings and dont care about creating any sort of bond with the person.
I cant diagnose you, but you answered yes to a lot of the questions so I would say you definitely resemble a sociopath to some extent. If you really wana know you should do research and maybe see a psychologist
Sociopaths are the real winners in society. If you have sociopathic traits, you're gonna make it big. People NEED such people to fill the posts of high-tier execs, CEOs, lawyers, etc. That's because sociopaths can succeed in a way that the average person cannot.
Don't start asking "am I a sociopath?" Start fucking asking "in what ways do I resemble one, and how can I make use of it?"
>>584966171 I believe that people can be "artificially sociopathic" and not genuine sociopath. Most sociopaths do a very good job in taking advantage of other people because "How fucking stupid people really are in most places of the world". Anyone can be guilty until proven innocent in most cases and for those found not guilty, the accusers torment endlessly.
Artificial sociopath is a term I came up with to describe the side effects of being punished when you should of been rewarded or rewarded when you should of been punished, giving you a confused subconscious that ends up balancing to a nullified position, normally found in people who live close to niggers or jews.
Whenever the rules aren't told to those growing up in a society that has them and are expected to follow those rules without any information of how to find out what those rules even are and you can go to prison for life for some of them, this gives a message to people that they might be living in a sick society that they didn't even choose to live in from birth that would only be justified by those who did choose for them to live there in order to make them accountable for something that they really aren't accountable for. Disregarding social norm becomes socially norm as society decays due to a bad system destroying itself over time.
People can only take so much before they break and once they break, it is much easier for them to break again. This creates an easier cycle of getting mad and taking it out.
This is 2014 and people still believe in marriage, religion, or superstition. We have been to the moon, have satellites in space which make our cell phones and other things global and work better, and the potential to create post scarcity at this very moment and people want to revert to barbarism. Why make a culture of one person loving one person when there really isn't one person for each person out there in reality, but, judge those who have no one and no other choice.
Primary psychopathy is the emotional aspect of it. like, incapacity for guilt embaressment or shame, shallow emotions, extremely low trait anxiety and fear, these psychopaths don't expeirence increased heart rate or changes in skin even when lying or doing something like murdering, which is why lie detector tests don't work on the. They are very manipulative and narcssistic, think patrick bateman or ted bundy.
Secondary psychopath is the behaviour aspect of it. Like proness to boredom, substance abuse, high risk taking, socially deviant lifestyle in general, very high reactive aggression and low frustration tolerance.
The difference between them is that secondary psychopaths have alot of anxiety and stress, and tend to experience guilt and shame at some points. The second difference is that they display only reactive aggression almost, like fighting someone that bumps into you.
Primary psychopaths display no depression or fear, and show both reactive and instrumental like goal directed.
I share traits of the second but I wouldn't consider myself either.
ASPD is also only the behaviour part of it, you don't need to have an incapacity for guilt to be diagnosed with it as long as you behave badly.
>>584978197 Sociopathy is usually not something they think about unless you are in there because you got in trouble.
You sound a bit antisocial and unemotional but that doesnt mean youre a sociopath. Theres other "disorders" that you might fall under, such as schizoid: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schizoid_personality_disorder
Are you a very social person? Thats an important thing
I think the main thing in sociopathy is the desire to use/abuse others, doing things like lying to them shit like that. They are basically what most people would consider evil. (but not horrifically evil like a serial killer or something)
>>584979830 This was actually pretty helpful, neat. Yes I'm a very social person, I don't go out of my way to intentionally manipulate people, but if it helps me achieve a certain goal then I will. That's just something that I think is necessary to go far in life, and I think many people will agree with me on that
>>584968891 I guarantee you if someone was behead in front of you and his head rolled into your lap. You would not be so cold. Most likely every faggot in here believes this to be untrue but it is. Its easy to be cold through a computer screen. Maybe there are few who would not feel at all. I know your lurking faggot.
>>584980626 Because I have never seen an actual sociopath brag about it to anyone. All these murderers, rapists, etc actual sociopaths have never once bragged about their personality. The only ones I've seen who even mentioned they're sociopaths or psychopaths are like random edgelords on /b/
What a coincidence huh? And then people seem to think they're sociopaths becuase they can look at gore or rekt threads. No, I frequently look at gore or rekt threads and feel nothing because you get used to it, and I'm nowhere near a psychopath.
Only the most vile actions can show psychopathy. Like, burning a dog alive, cutting a cats ears off, killing and raping children, etc. If someone commits any of these acts I will believe them
But someone saying "I never experience guilt" on an imageboard I wont believe, because it has to be based on something. You can't say you don't experience guilt if the worst thing you've done is insult your friends, if you've actually done a very vile act an age you were conscious and morally aware and not felt guilty, I might believe you.
Because most murderers and rapists are not pure psychopaths and even tend to feel guilty often, therefore you have to have shown it some extreme way
