I hardwired them, I cut a hole in my cieling and went through the top, the main reason I need to break in was to clean up the drill filings and cut the drywall recess for the camera from the top till it was nearly flush with the cieling, it's a popcorn ceiling so you really cannot see the pin hole, there are 2 cameras in each bathroom that i drooped the wires down the wall and put them about 4 feet high
