Call of Duty/10
Realistically.
Clothes, shelter, water, tools, medication, fire, stuff.
Barely any food. Because if you can't manage to hunt and/or forage for food, any stock you got will deplete anyway.
No military grade weapony. Because where the fuck am I going to get some when apocalypse hits. I mean, get real.
And if you really need firearms, it means that these bullets will run out the same way as food.
And toothbrush. Because when your teeth start to decay and fall, you're pretty much fucked.
>>568569314
That's what the shemagh is for mate. I tend to soak mine in water and wear that. It's amazing
>>568567981
Gotta second that.
Even if in Northern America and Europe you might have densest packs of survivors in the old metropolis or urban areas you can get away pretty easily.
>all the kids packing flak jackets/vests
seriously, it's not a vidya game, it does not give you some free armor or extra HP. It's heavy and bulky and is only designed to prevent light shrapnel and smaller caliber bullets from instantaneously killing you.
It will not stop bullets to your arms/legs, it will not prevent you from falling on the ground with broken ribs and passing out, it will not save you from someone stabbing you in your sleep and dozen of other situations.
Unless you operate with a team and plan on taking light fire the cost of opportunity is way to high in general and ridiculous in said scenario.
Here is my hunter setup
>various means of making fire
>iodine drops and canteens to boil water in
>basic tools, rope and duct tape for survival and building my den
>some calorie dense food for early survival until I can make enough of my own food
>hunter shotgun with shitload of ammo as I won't be able to scavenge a lot, silenced gun does not have as much as it's just for emmergency cases. I coud probably drop it actually
>needle can be bent with multitool to be used as fishing line if the waters near my camp are fishy, but scavenging a proper fishing equipment won't be too hard if I'm near a lake or something
I should probably bring some seeds but I didn't find anything resembling

But what about the only water you find is all polluted from the remnant of the old world.
Also at some point you will stop finding animals around you to kill and you would have to go farther and farther to feed yourself at the point to live a semi-nomadic life
>>568570421
you have no fucking idea what you're talking about, lol. civilians in free states (i.e not commiefornia) can buy plate carriers and plates that can prevent most rifle rounds from penetrating. the only thing HELMETS are for is shrapnel, retard. If you take a round directly in the center of your helmet, you're dead.
THAT BEING SAID, most people don't own them, they're expensive and you're right, they're extremely bulky and if you're not used to rucking that much weight you'll be too fucking tired all the time to even operate.
>>568570964
for some reason I feel like you don't own an x26 tazer.. they're usually almost a thousand dollars and they're restricted in a lot of places to only law enforcement and military.
>>568570421
also forgot to mention something important
>plastic bags and change of clothes in case I have to cross a river swimming
I don't want my ammo to get wet or to die freezing so changing in dry clothes is essential for survival.
I should definitely pack a toothbrush instead of the gun, that would be the only bad point I see in my setup

and the helmets I'm referring to are the ones the U.S military currently uses. 5.56 shot on a straight angle will punch right through it. on a side angle they tend to bounce off or skim around the sides. I'm quite aware milsurp helmets are cheap, lol.

Well to exhaust the whole game of the forrests near where I live by myself would be complicated.
But even in the case that the game moves I plan on growing shit in the long run anyway. The hunting is for the settling in until my stuff grows and for the occasional meat in order to stuff dried/smoked meat for winter.

If there is so few people it won't be a safe place. With such a poor description of the situation by OP, I prepared myself for a hostile environment. If you wanted realism, then state so in the description :/
Obviously, I would focus waaaaaay more on survival than on ammo/weaponry if the situation wasn't as hostile as stated by OP.
>>568571019
I did not get into detail, and you are probably right that I am not very knowledgeable about them.
But what I know is that a regular police vest won't stop much NATO rounds in a direct shot.
heavier plates might stop/deflect ak rounds or even NATO and light snipers but hell the energy of the round takes you to the ground.
They are only meant to turn a deadly shot into a non fatal injury that can be treated if you are evacuated by the rest of your team to a field hospital.
If you are by yourself, even if the plate saves your ass at the moment of the impact, you'll still be pinned to the ground.
Imagining that for some fucking reason your attacker does not make the most of it to achieve you, chances are you'll die of infection/passing out with broken ribs etc anyway.
but I think we agree on their uselessness in this situation anyway so I won't rant more !
>>568570421
Forgot to mention that I tried to sort the stuff in order to have the most essential things in the lightier bags.
So if I am in danger I can drop the big backpack and still have enough for bare survival. Next would be the shotgun and the handbag.
Even down to my pocket vest I'd still have the bare essential.

either way if you DID get shot by a high caliber rounds (any rifle grade round etc) you would most likely have broken ribs, atleast if you get hit in the chest, and thats if by some miracle it didnt penetrate.

aha good to see someone more knowledgeable than me is on the same page.
It gets at me a little that all the kids feel they have to put one into their survival kit like some kind of reflex B82 from Counter Strike or something. Video games are so unrealistic with vests and injuries that a lot of people think of them as invulnerability armours without realizing how narrow is their efficiency and how heavy/unconvenient they are
>>568574805
>eat and drink sparingly without starving yourself or dehydrating
>avoid human contact outside of people you trust with your life
that's pretty much the baseline of what you need to know... it's really quite complicated being that when shit hits the fan there's a million things to consider and whatever you're prepared for, there are 5000 more things that can and will kill you
>>568573731
Shit, I hadn't even considered that. Steal an amphibious APC from the local guard armory, some guns/ammo/mre's, a few cans of diesel, and hit the road till you find some land you like with a nice house already on it, and farm to your heart's content.

>>568575189

>>568575183
I don't have super extensive experience with modern armor being that I've never actually seen combat but I do know a bit about it, and one thing I can tell you is if you get shot, it's always going to fucking knock you on your ass. ALWAYS. It doesn't matter if you're the baddest motherfucker around, the pure fucking energy that rifle caliber rounds deliver onto your body will give you something to cry about
Here's my bug out kit.
>>568570091

>>568574915
I see a lot of people putting crossbow in their gear, but I don't know if they all realize how hard it is to hunt with one.
I mean it's already nearly impssible to get big game with a hunting rifle if you have never done it before, so sneaking up on it to a few yards with a crossbow is something reserved for very experienced hunters

Nuclear holocaust. Longer winters and short summers.
>>568575501
It's a bit off. You have a lot of wasted weight involved in your ruck.
First things I notice are the emphasis on the gas mask. The chances of both you ever needing it and it actually saving your life are so low that it's not even worth the weight to bring along.
The crossbow is pretty much worthless unless you plan on hunting with it. You need more nutrition in your ruck, and at least three sources of fire. You're lacking a good fixed blade knife.
>>568562046
My fucking sides
>>568574930
Portable solar cell = win, but that's not available.
Toothbrush... am I really going to find toothpaste? If so, I would take it. Otherwise, it would not be so useful.
Again, I am not being realistic :/
Just designed an extreme gear choice for a supposedtly extreme situation.
Is such gear optimal in normal conditions? I know it is not. IRL i wouldn't focus so much on weaponry, I would focus way more on tools/survival, as you noted. But the situation stated was not realistic either :/
As someone said somewhere ITT, there would be a man once each 50 sq miles or so, and I assumed based on the definition of the situation that that person would be hostile, so I want to notice him ASAP and take the high ground.
If you define a different situation (aka, more realistic), I can design a better gear choice (less weaponry, more tools and less weight). But that's not the situation I chose my luggage for :/
>>568575650
well if the plates prevent it from going through you, it means you are taking the whole kinetic energy of the round on your body anyway.
We are talking several grams of metal going faster than the sound so, yeah, that's a lot of energy!
This is what I'd like to have.
How am I geared?
>>568576425
you would die in two weeks with the scenario stated
>>568576425
No food or water. You'd be dead in a week if you haven't killed someone for their supplies yet.
>>568575740
I've never fired a gun before, so putting anything more powerful than a pistol in my loadout wouldn't be practical. Then again, I've never shot a crossbow either. I've always kind of assumed that a crossbow would be easier than handling a rifle, which is why I always choose it in lieu of a firearm when making loadouts like this.
Also, your friend is a fucking boss.

>Okay, then.
During winter it goes down to the ~60s at most. Maybe a week tops at sub 40 if there's a particularly bad stormfront. Only changes between this setup and nuclear survival would be a heavy jacket (got), and a gieger counter (don't got, but can find within a week). I'd just be looking out for Deathclaws at that point.
>>568577281
Socially I would fire a lot of rounds into the air as I ran away.
this is enough for a few days i think.
>>568576717
I have very little experience with crossbows but I'd say they require training to be operated properly.
Also they are huge as fuck
so it seems a bit unpractical in your situation. A basic handgun like a glock should be operable by someone without experience in an easier way and would weight less and be easier to carry.
that's my 2cents anyway
and yeah my friend is really something. Worst part is that he doesn't look like it, he's like some slim tall nerd with spaghetti arms and huge glasses.
He actually looks something like this pic, it always gets me loling
>>568575719
It's not *that* heavy and unconvenient with a proper backpack in my opinion.
I could get rid of the guitar, which doesn't weight that much (though it adds up), but is a bit of an encumbrance.
I think that you end up throwing away the things you really don't need anyway.
>>568575740
Indeed, but I think it (or similar) is still better than firearms : no ammo shortage (reusable shots and possibility to make some more homemade), easier to repair, quiet (both for practicity and security).
It's only there because, anyway.
And widespread firearms-at-home isn't really part of the culture I live in (European/French), so there's that, too.
>>568576958
why the fuck would you carry such an hevy load made of pure firearms and explosives?
would you plan on killing everybody you encounter on sight?
you'll probably team around with some military friends but with your plate amor and all the weight of your ammo and weapons you wouldn't be very mobile...
>>568577281
Post up in my own home. I use my garage basically as a storage unit, so I'd probably just take out everything useful in there and burn the rest, and make room for my car. I live in Western Washington State, and my house is up in a forest, so wood wouldn't be an issue for fire for the fireplace and smoker. Lots of windows so I'd board those up with shit I find around the house. The kit I posted >>568577229 would just be for adventuring outside the house and going around town and maybe going out to the grocery store, etc.
>>568577281
it'll depend if someone I can trust has survived too.
If not, I'd team and try to gather other survivors to rebuild society in some remnants of an urban area.
If so, we'd just go our way and live as hermits somewhere in order to avoid shenanigans and fucking looters.
>>568576717
the only thing you can do is start going to the range. shooting is a really fun, very useful skill to have. but please, please, please learn firearm and range safety. I hate going to the range and having people sweep me with their shitty 10/22's and worrying about dying because some moron can't keep his rifle aimed down range. learning to shoot can be relatively cheap too, you can get a military surplus mosin for less than 200$ and they're very fun to learn on. taught 3 of my friends on a shitty 91/30 :)
>>568565016
Umad brah?
>>568577563

>extra socks and foot powder
hell fucking yeah
>sun block and bug spray
well if you are not retarded you can survive wihout them. Of course if you are in a fucking guatemalan jungle the bug spray is more important and if you are wandering the arizonan desert the sunblock becomes mandatory. But in most cases it would be okay
>TP
kid, even the most retarded boyscout can survive in the wood without TP
hell, half of humankind are actually taking shits all around the world right noz without it and they aren't too bad off.
>>568578617
With the survivor/hunter mindset, you can't afford to do anything carelessly. The longer you survive, the sharper your senses become.
This is my standard "on the way to work" in the winter.
I've got plenty of food/water at both ends.
Enjoy the fireworks

Arctic Loadout
gotta survive that australian wild!
>>568578689
I'd think the inclusion of TP is to keep up your morale. It's probably way easier to survive if you don't smell like shit because you have nothing to wipe your ass with.
>>568579015
alot good matchs will do if you have nothing dry enough to burn
>>568578991
Those MREs don't come aspirin, amoxicillin or bandages. You'd die from an infected cut.

think of the medieval time. Fuking shitstain on all the pants.

Also, not pictured (because they're not in but they are insignificant in size) which are in the medic bag:
Dice
Various pens/markers
Notebooks (more than just the one in the medic bag)
Beard/Moustache comb
Several hair ties
A clipboard
A few dog collars (small leather buckled straps are super handy)
Spare bootlaces
I may also have some pliers, assorted papers, and some exacto knives and glue depending on the day.
>>568577905
agree on the silence part, not so much on the ammo side. These arrow can break easily and aren't reusable so much. Homemade ones would fly pretty terribly.
Anyhow in OP's setup there is very little use for weapons outside of hunting necesities. And as I said, if you are inexperienced I don't really think you'll be able to hunt anything with it anyway.
If you are french there are some armories in most town and you'll find shotguns in nearly every agricultor house.
A basic hunting shotgun is very easy to operate and with the right gauge you might get small game like rabbits or birds even if inexperienced.
mais ca c'est juste mon avis!
>>568579371
MREs come with gum that makes you shit and napkins to use as TP.
>>568578239
aha guy said he's French. You don't get your hand on a Mosin that easily here!
he's better off learning how to fish
this is how i roll
>>568579520
That's my point friend, wiping my asshole with napkins makes it sore and then walking is slightly painful. I know from experience because me and a bro go rucking innawoods for fun occasionally, haha.
If everyone was dead, I'd easily find this stuff everywhere, I live in a place filled with drug traffickers, so salvaging their weapons would be most likely, there are also basic pharmacies all around and convenience stores, basic sports bags and sidebags are almost everywhere, I have a machete and basic everyday knives in my home, and a bandana... well, who wouldn't wear one
>>568560389
love raving, kek'd so hard
>>568579784
I didn't catch that he's french, my bad. I don't know what to tell you, if you live in a police state with no freedumbs you're pretty much fucked.

yea you won't roll for long without water nigger
>>568578617
gotta second that
and even if you are 'sharp' or whatever and manage to survive, it'd be fun to have your shelter protection blow up some rabbits or curious animal

you can wipe with a piece of cloth you found
you can wipe with newspapers/books scavenged
you can wipe with your fucking hand and clean it right after
you can wipe yourself with a handful of grass
just don't wipe yourself with poison ivy and you should be fine
>>568580362
Yeah, I know I'd be dumb enough not to pick up water, I never usually drink water, so I'd obviously forget
>>568579519
Yeah I never really used a crossbow, but I definitely know that it can be not as practical as usually thought.
The "homemade shots" stuff was about badly crafted emergency ammo though. :P
Funnily enough, the first thing I choose was a hunting shotgun, before switching.
I'm not experienced at all in survival stuff anyway, so my setup was mostly a wild guess.
>>568580495
That's true, but it would take awhile I would be willing to wipe my ass with a book. I like reading too much. :D
going for light and fast
>>568580643
don't worry, we are just a bunch of nerd arguing on internet about a loadout generator game...
Pretty little to do with actual survival!
you had most of the basics right from the start so you should not be worrying too much.
Also France is vast and has a lot of game and agricultural ressources everywhere, you're safe there!

list = flashlight (won't last long tho)
swiss army knife, rope, toothbrush (toothpaste not very long lasting), iodine, firestarting metal thingie, compass, map, thread and needles to sew clothes (or animal skin), shovel, antibiotics, bandage box, doctor's bag, tent, blanket, sleeping bag, fishing kit, pan, pot (you gotta cook the fish you catch and boil the water!), water jerrycan, box of ammo, akm/ak47, machete (to cut wood/leaves clear path), wasteland knife, binoculars, and snowsuit and hood
like i said, toothpaste, night vision goggles (require batteries) flashlight and iodine won't last long (but i can boil water). tinder for starting fire neither, but it lasts longer than matches.
anyway that was the thinking behind it

The real beauty of this one is all in the weapons. If they make it past The Overkiller pistol party, then I'll break out The Cleaver and sight in on their demise. Worst case, I lob a couple of gas grenades, and my skull ski mask will filter my oxygen intake to keep me immune.
