It's been illegal since only late 2011, when the feds cracked down. Then the chemists started paying cat-and-mouse, changing the chemical composition just enough to stay one step ahead of the law. I tried the original spice, JWH-018, and thought it was fucking brilliant. I was kicking myself for not believing the internet ads back when they were selling it openly. By the time I started using it every day, the chemicals kept changing. I thought I was going to die of a heart attack at least three times. Seriously. The last time was so bad that I threw the spice and my pipe into an open bag of dogshit so I couldn't get to it. The shit can be addicting. And calling it synthetic marijuana is completely misleading.

That shit fucked me up bad. I experienced terrible open-eye hallucinations, auditory hallucinations, time slowed down, and I truly believed I was dying. Shit lasted about 4 hours too... I didn't start to feel normal until about 12 hours later, and every once in a while something will trigger a brief moment where I feel the same way.

Used to buy straight JWH for real cheap (active ingredient in many spice blends) and then put it on some other herbs I bought or had around the house (sage worked well). You would get a gram bag and some dumb shits would put a ton on a bowl at once and get retarded and have to goto the hospital. Proper dosing was just tiny rice sized chunks of it (white powder).

After ~3mos it just fucked with me and for like 1-2mos after stopping I got frequent anxiety that hadn't been an issue in the past. I don't feel any side effects anymore but I had multiple friends who had similar after effects and stopped using it completely as well.

Almost all that shit is made in china in some shit lab and bought in huge bulk very cheaply by people who distribute it. So even if you have a good source, you can't be sure exactly what is in the stuff and how much it varies batch to batch.

A big issue that causes people to take spice or other synthetics isn't even lack of ability to buy weed, it's drug testing. There are many jobs that do regular or random drug tests and unless you always keep a supply of clean urine + have a urine heater device, weed is often not a possibility for these people.

I have a feeling with the rise in synthetics eventually we will see some (confirmed) healthier ones but right now there are a ton out there and they often change a molecule to get by bans so it's really a mixed bag what you're getting, both literally and figuratively.

I smoked spice until March of this year.

We were in a car, bout to smoke, we made a gravity bong and I took a big hit, like WAY too big of a hit of spice.

I fucking tripped balls. Like, I swear to god, I was so high and fucked I thought the government was attacking and I got out of the car and starting screaming Obama has attacked, and the nukes are coming.

I look back on it now and I fucking laugh my ass off, but in the moment, I LITERALLY thought that what was going on.

Fuck spice.

That's one thing I miss about spice is that it gets you fucked up unlike weed. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's a fucking nightmare and you get the fear, but I kind of miss that Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde side of it.

I'll stick to weed. It's actually legal compared to the synthetic shit, and I know what to expect from weed, I don't with spice. I never smoked the newer forms. I pretty much stopped when they put JWH-018 on emergency drug scheduling.

I had a similar experience (smoked it with a grav bong in a car), but what I felt was waves of pressure and pain flowing over my body for something like 5 minutes? I don't remember exactly how long. Fucking sucked.
Later that day, we went to a guy's house to sell him a bag. My friend decided to make a waterfall bong with a 1-liter bottle and pin hole. He took an enormous hit of the stuff, and ten minutes later he was more or less in a coma. Not responding to a light in his eyes, body went completely limp, and for a little bit he didn't seem to be breathing.
He came out of it 10-15 minutes later, and the only way he could describe the experience was "mother of god..."

I was a combat medic in the army. I was on night shift at my posts 24 hr clinic when some other soldiers brought in there unconscious, not breathing, battle buddy. I had to resuscitate him 3 times and shocked him once when his heart stopped beating. So that being said, fuck you, its always spice's fault, fag!

Everybody seems to forget that everyone is different and reacts different, but we can all agree that spice is dangerous.
On a 1-100 danger scale it's probably at 60-70 just because almost everybody seems to bad trip with it.

When I was a little angsty teen I bought some spice not because I couldn't get any weed but because I was scared of the consequences of possessing it.
