If we're going by anecdotal evidence, let me jump in.

The people I know who use reddit usually are normal, yet don't really use the internet very often and have kind of shitty senses of humor. Plus, they mention and sometimes repeat reddit memes and trends in an attempt to be funny, which hardly ever works except with other redditors.

The people I know who browse 4chan are pretty diverse and browse a lot of different boards, from /v/ and /b/ to /fit/ and /pol/. You wouldn't even suspect they use 4chan.

The biggest problem with reddit is the rating system and the fact, that you have to make an account.
The problem with the rating system is, that people will say certain things because they want upvotes and "gold". They do not want downvotes so they will keep an unpopular opinion to themselves more often than not.
This and the heavily moderation and "exclusive" subreddits is the reason for an environment in which creation and free speech can not blossom.

Reddit is fast, it is popular and it is huge, but it is not worth my time.

Most people I know IRL who use Reddit are white college kids who usually do something in computers or English. If I show them a funny YouTube video, they will quote parts of it for the next month in a vain attempt to be funny.

When someone is trying to argue their point against mine I can view their comment history and see of it is worth it. That being said, I go on 4chan because of the anonymity as well as the OC
