2. Who exactly was their market? On average, how far would their market be willing to travel just to attend the con? Is it local? Regional?

Let's say that, on average, nobody would be willing to travel more than 100mi to get there. How many people in your market live within 100mi of that con? How do you advertise to those people? How will you sell the con to them and convince them that they should go?
How many of those people will actually go?

If they had just those two things, there are a hundred other questions to ask, but it sure as hell makes the job easier.
