Pretty much any centerfire cartridge should be fine. Basically a 12 or 20 gauge slug from a shotgun to the roof of the mouth should do it easily. Pretty painless as well, it'll be the most excruciating pain you've ever felt but only for a fraction of a second.

Pretty much, but like I said before, a slug would be better than buckshot. more likely to be a clean kill, buckshot can just leave you brain damaged or cause you to bleed out slowly, whereas a slug will go faster and will pretty much be a guaranteed kill if you shoot through the roof of your mouth. If you're really worried about living it get a 12 gauge or for overkill 10 gauge, a 10 gauge slug will probably take the entire top of your head off, but with a hollow point slug it'll definitely destroy your brain.

honestly desert eagles are high quality guns and as far as a magnum platform go, they're pretty nice

here in ohio a lot of guys use them for hunting because the are easy to mount a scope to, easy to swap calibers, they get better velocity then a revolver because they don't have a cylinder gap and they are softer shooting then a lot of big bore revolvers

and when the seasons over you still have a cool gun that all your laymen friends think is badass because they saw it in a million movies

They aren't bad guns, I like them as hunting handguns, but they're too OTT and expensive for my tastes. Plus really picky about ammo, I used to have a 6" .44 Mk VII version that would jam up after half a mag of pretty much anything but really hot loads or match quality. I'm not sure if I just got a bad one, or if it was a problem with the earlier versions, but a MK XIX in .357 does look pretty nice for hunting.

If going for a pistol, take something like a 9mm, .357 Magnum or .45 ACP. I'd preferably use a .357 Jacketed Hollow Point or Semi-Wadcutter. They penetrate well and destroy brain tissue easily. Basically use any hunting or self defense loading you can find, the hotter the load the better it is.

The caliber doesn't really matter unless you're shooting yourself from a distance or thinking of shooting yourself with a rubber bullet or an airgun.

What really matters is the amount of hot gasses expanding into your cranium. A blank alone is lethal enough if the gasses expand INTO your cranium: it will blow a hole and cause massive bleeding within the area of the explosion. Try it on a melon.

While a .22's lethality in headshot is based on the bullet ricocheting inside your skull thus creating a lot of penetration damage from multiple angles it's really based on bleeding: a lot of stab wounds take more time to stich than just one big stab wound. That's why people do survive even if shot in head: there's less shit to fix, and in such cases where the person survives the parts of brain which control breathing and such aren't harmed.

But due to the BARREL ANGLE because of LENGTH of the firearm a lot of shotgun suicides fail: the gasses expand and tear off everything in its path, in failed shotgun suicides this generally means the person's face. And that doesn't cause enough bleeding to kill you, atleast not in short run. You'll be screaming your lungs out and regretting your action. And that's kinda boils down the topic suicide: death is the end of things. Lifeforms are made out of things and those things depend on each other. If you are aware you'll experience more pain than what motivated you to commit suicide in the first place. If you hated your life before, you'll hate it thousand folds more after ACTUALLY failing to commit suicide. So this doesn't include pill poppers and wrist cutters. And to really pack it up: There is no easy death, it is literially suffering and miserable existance to the very last microsecond. And after that nothing really matters.

Not as bad as the rest, we're not allowed semi-auto centerfires, but we can have things like semi-auto .22 WMRs, and we're allowed pistols that aren't neutered like the mainland. They're better, but not by much. Though I'm looking into a .22 WMR AR kind of rifle, no luck finding one yet, but it would be as close to a 5.56 AR-15 as I could get.
