It really depends on the situation, but I have to disagree in most cases. It can work sometimes, but it could also result in accidentally getting the heel over. A recent example would be Kevin Owens. He cheats to win, but he only does it to ensure a better life for his family. How am I supposed to boo that? I mean, the man is a cheater, but he has an understandable reason for it. If a person is reasonable and right, but also a dick and a cheater, they're still right. Generally speaking, people will cheer a person that they can sympathize and agree with. The only exception is if that person is already hated, or if the other guy is already loved. If not, though, the crowd really has no reason to hate a "heel" who is reasonable and right, and they may even turn on the "face", as we saw in the KO/BMJ feud. In short, a heel needs to create a reason to be hated. Being reasonable and having a point does the total opposite of that.

Granted, in theory Roman's been ganged up by four 'bad guys' who are sucking up to the powers that are against him, and now he's 'rising up' against the oppression. It's a typical babyface formula, but the baggage the fanbase has against Roman shuts down the suspension of disbelief. After all, he's just being fed this faction to tread water and keep his 'Top Dog' status.

wwe's gone to shit now. Raw is a 3 hr fuck fest, which is stupid, when you have 20 min of the same matches every week, a 3 min diva match, a crappy 40 min long main event, some match that doesn't matter, and an hour of promos. For instance, past week or so on raw (cant remember it was so shit) you get reigns coming out delivering a 60 hour promo (guy is SO SLOW) and sheamus interrupts fight woohoo. Then you get the wyatt family coming out for 23 hours, the dudleyz come out they fight no match. Then some crappy diva interview, entrance starts, pans to ring, diva already in ring, other diva gets in ring, start match, 1 min l8r done. So raw is 3 hrs. You cant have a diva match that is longer than 7 mins thats good enough to watch? (granted some diva matches are long, but their absolute boring to watch.) Finish with same main event last week. Same shit over and over. Personally i skip through raw (dont even watch smackdown) and basically only watch PPV, since i'm paying 9.99$ a week for it. Only wrestling I watch weekly is NXT, because you actually have good matches, (most of the time.) and takeover is really good. (Bayley v Banks in takeover NY, Balor v Owens ladder match. and its got good characters, (Breeze, Balor, Enzo and Cass.)

WWE is shit now, raw is too long with bullshit, and NXT is great

It made sense for his character to do that type of thing, and it's not like anyone would even think of booing him, no matter what he did, because he was just that over. I looked into this a long time ago, and I found something a little troubling; A gimmick-themed PPV like TLC or HiaC actually drew more buy rates than the generic PPV they replaced. And I mean it was a tangible increase, not something that could be laughed off as a fluke. By and large these derided and joyless gimmicks draw more money than the regular PPVs.
