Something rather less well known. Nippon Kempo is a martial art/sport that practices full contact sparring with armor and allows for both striking and grappling, pretty neat stuff, and I believe the JSDF's unarmed curriculum is derived from it. It has its flaws, namely that it still works on a points system and that scoring must be done by striking the chestpiece or helmet, but it just seems like a good compromise between casual training where you don't get overly hurt and serious martial approach as free sparring is a key part of the discipline.

That farside arm triangle works like a charm for me. I also really like the stock position he also shows toward the end. Old school catch wrestling stuff. Very useful.

Master Wong even agrees, in his Wing Chun system, he's made modifications. For example: he doesn't use the chain punch.
But in all honesty, the chain punch can be useful in the right time against the right opponent in the right circumstances. Martial arts are arts, and leaving colors out of a true master artist's pallet just because some guy said they're bad colors is bad form.
