Just be aware that pool skating is fast paced and you will get hurt if you can control your board. I recommend mastering the basics on a miniramp and work your way up.

It's becoming increasly common to see 8.0 and up decks from companies and rarer to see 7.5 and 7.75 decks unless it's from a company that like tech skating (ex. Plan B). You're going to find maybe one 7.75 deck in the Anti Hero Catalog in comparison to a company like Mystery.

Most of the skaters I film with skate 7.75-8.5. The people with 7.75 are still kids with smaller feet. You can skate street with a 8.5 (Brian Anderson) but I don't think you'll be good as him on it.

well you aren't going to hear something else, don't expect miracles. Tricks don't happen by themselves. They may happen by accident, but they don't happen by themselves. Find what you like (what YOU like, that's the real tricky part to keep a clean head and be inspired in this era of noice) and go for it.
I can do wallrides and I struggle at fliptricks, like suck at them, novice, shamefur dispray level. Why? Because a wall ride seems what a skateboard is made for to me, so I lunge at walls. But I want to have one or two fliptricks down to "feel legit". Different motivation produces differnt results. Can you dig it?

if you dont know how to grind at all start with the 50-50.
Learn to drop in to vert ramps first fool. Its all about balance and commitment. Just dont puss out and think "Im gonna fall and break my ass"

Just ride around and have fun, don't be a snake or a kook, when one of the locals is tearing up the park just stop and watch them. If there are scooter kids, avoid them.

I do not think this is true at all, unless you're so bad you're getting in other people's way and annoying everybody, you don't really have to be that great to ride at a skatepark. There are people at my park that can shred the bowl, or can do awesome vert tricks, but can't even do a shuv-it. It's odd to me, but it's still pretty cool.

How do I slide bs smiths in a quarter?
I can do bs 5-0 and 50-50s fine but when I try for a Smith my board stops dead in its tracks.

Ι get the feel that you don't want to strive for greatness, and that' s an attitude and a viewpoint in itself and I respect and adhere to, but sometimes it doesn't hurt you to practice a little harder or to sweat it a little. This is how you get tricks under your belt and then you can add them to your comfort zone.
