Anyone who was around at the end of the 90s knows nWo merch was all kids had in school.
It got to the point where some schools banned kids from wearing it, but if you check the yearbooks, a lot of kids had an nWo shirt on.

I completely understand where you're coming from and ur not wrong I also remember my schools being filled with a lot more NWO merch then anyone else. However Austins merch was legitimately being bought by mostly grown up men. When I moved to the south with my ex for a few years I was stunned to find so many 30-40 year old men who still proudly had their Austin shirts, I'm talking everywhere.
