jukendo and naginata niggers allowed too!
>>3130001
fuck, just missed them digits!!!!!!!!
>>3130000
what a waste
>>3130001
Is there a list of jukendo groups outside Japan?
>>3130001
Isn't that terribly unsafe, though? The naginata person not wearing the extra shoulder protection used in jukendo, I mean.
>>3129765
Tare is not useful as groin protector.
Trust me I know. :/
>>3130001
Koryu too
>>3130810
Why don't just employ a normal one?
>>3130348
That would probably be very inconvenient. They'd need one for both shoulders, because in naginata you frequently switch sides, and that'd probably restrict the arm movement too much. You don't lift your arms much in jukendo.
That's the first time I've ever seen an isshu jiai with naginata against something else than kendoka though.
>>3132422
It's not normally needed. Accidents do happen, but rarely, and nothing serious.

So here is a question, why did kendo go in the direction of standardized techniques and a strict rule set.
After all, at the time that was set up there was no singular kendo, there were a bunch of indivual kenjutsu schools that practiced there own unique shinai keiko. There were commonly agreed upon norms like targeting the armored parts, but no standard rule set.
Why didm't they just set up a general but open ended rule set they could all compete under instead of creating a whole new art?
>>3134971
I suppose new rules are added as require because controversies about points, illegal techniues and what not.
>>3134971
The Allied occupation happened.
>>3130001
No one does Jukendo, Tankendo or Nito in my state.
Thanks to doing HEMA though (and in a very unofficial capacity) I have held a few "Fun Classes".
Feels good.

>>3137024
Thats perhaps even more complicated since it encompasses a much larger area.
