I had the minute-to-minute reports. When Freddy was on, people watched him. When Jason was on, people watched him. Leatherface, eh, somewhat somewhat. Uh... Ghosface drew money. People changed the channel when Chucky came on.

I am exactly 25. I first saw him on the 4th of July 1997 in a commercial for a horror movie marathon on USA and I've been doing the job ever since.

Back then, even the intro of the movie, I'm not sure which sequel, but when the factory are making the dolls, and I remember some kind of liquid or the melted plastic mixing or some shit, I stopped watching after that, but by god, that scene will never be removed from my head.

I'm 29. I was about 4 when my parents rented Child's Play 2 on video. That night, I had a nightmare that Chucky came into my room with a knife. Chucky became the biggest phobia of my childhood. I was terrified of seeing the video boxes or commercials for the movies. I had a nightmare that a new Chucky movie was coming out. When Bride of Chucky was released, it was literally a nightmare come true. I changed the channel during every commercial break when the previews for it started airing. I couldn't get away from it though. I still saw parts of the commercials and there was even an ad for it in a comic book I bought. All of this was like exposure therapy, because I started to be able to look at the comic book ad without being scared. When Bride of Chucky came out on video, my sister and cousins rented it. I didn't want to watch it but I could hear them watching it. Eventually, I worked up the guts to walk into the room where they were watching the movie. I was not scared anymore and I watched the rest of it. Chucky became my favorite monster and Child's Play 2, the movie that traumatized me, is my favorite horror movie.
If you want to cure Chuckyphobia, I suggest watching Bride of Chucky. It's got a humorous tone, stitched-up Chucky is uglier but less creepy than classic Chucky, and Jennifer Tilly will work you into a shoot.
If you want to go hard-mode and really mess with your head, watch Child's Play 2. It's a movie about a kid coping with Chucky trauma. In other words, it's a movie about all of you.
