Very interesting times. Tenryu and Kawada and new roster doing a less headdropz Ajpw.
They're still working that style but today elbow exchanges and limbwork on legs and arms are rare.

This. This is what true dominance looks like. Not Goldberg's piped in bullshit. Not the paper champions being posted otherwise. Not muh dimes yet can't hold it for more than a few days Stone Cold bitch Austin. Not imma use my money/power to hold it Moolah. Not Brock "I gas too quickly" Lesnar. Nobody else.

Was anything post-NOAH headdrop heavy though?

Noah was for years until Misawa died. The juniors used headdrops less.
Ajp under Jun brought back German suplex headdrops then sometimes no sell spot from the 90s. (Also the struggle of doing moves from Ajpw 90s)
How Ajpw since the Ajpw/Noah split uses their spots like 90s Njpw. Power bombs and strike spots, cutters and other big moves while not using basic moves much. You can see Kento and Nomura work like this.
Ajpw 90s had a build to basic to mid to bigger tier spots. I think Noah trueborns retained this last time I watched.

Interesting. Despite having watched all the way back with the earliest black n white Giant Baba stuff, I have honestly not watched an ounce of anything AJPW after NOAH became a thing. But the Miyahara hype has made me curious.

It's not really delivering for me. Workrate wise it's good, but it's not anything you aren't seeing in NJPW (even lesser so now with NJPW guys doing dangerous looking spots).

There's some booking traits from the old days back as well. Heel cheating is decreased and is angle low now.
The post split era worked the style Tenryu vs Muto worked. Royal Road without the head-drops or rare big match finishers or past 30 min matches.
Pro wrestling love era from mid 00s to 2012 got stiffer with strike exchanges and elbow bunting borrowed from Noah.
The style they use now has Ajpw 90s elements (the build, german spots, outside ring brawling, apron spots etc) and Njpw 90s elements like how I described the use of their high spots. Also leg and arm work isn't common much. Very rare. That came from looking at how that stuff is rare in USA. Almost everything from 90s wrestling stayed in Ajpw.
