Was the "golden age" of WCW?
>>
Golden age started with hall coming into wcw, ended just after nash got the book. Not that he did a bad job per say, but there was lots of circumstances against them at the time.

If you think of WCW from 1989 to 2001 as a kingdom, then 89-90 was its golden age with Sting, Flair, Steamboat reigning. 91-93 was an interregnum of Bill Watts garbage. 93-95 was its silver age when it started pulling in silver-aged grandpas from WWF. 96-98 was its resurgence and when it established an empire with Nitro and the MNW. 99-2000 was its decline, and 2001 is the year it crumbled.
>>
>>3095973 So you are saying one year basically.
>>
>>3095953
1992-1998
>>
>>3096002
The NWO got overcrowded so fast it lost all meaning. Half the roster was NWO.

Outsiders debut - Hogan/Warrior at Halloween Havoc
>>
>>3095953

'96 - '99

wwe was '97 - '02

really makes you think

Minus Hogan Debut to Scott Hall Debut

You know that hardcore WCW fans fucking HATED the nWo era, right?
>>
>>3096080
Yeah I can agree with that
>>
>>3096177
It was a pretty rough stretch. I think '92 and '97 were the best years.
>>
When Cornette was booking just like any promotion Cornette booked, they were at their best
>>
97-99 was rad
>>
Golden age of WCW was when Hall cut that sick promo when he invaded and ended after he cut that sick promo when he invaded
>>
When they brought in Eddie, Benoit, Malenko, etc. It was the first time I'd been exposed to flippy shit. It was the perfect way to kick off a show. Then follow that up with some Steiner Bros./Harlem Heat tag action, capped off with some NWO/4 Horsemen shenanigans. The show was firing on all cylinders around the start of/before the NWO storyline all the way up until Goldberg's reign ended.

What year was The Dangerous Alliance? 1992?
>>
>>3097553
Yeah.
>>
>>3095993
This is accurate.

There are some absolutely miserable moments in the epic 96-98 period too though. Like the Sting-Hogan finish at Starcade '97 and Warrior-Hogan at Havoc '98. 14 year old me did mark the fuck out when Warrior first showed up on Nitro, but after 2 promo's it turn shit.

>thinks he's an expert on WCW
>calls 1992 WCW garbage
You're not fooling anyone.
>>
My WC W comfy era was 89 up to when Hogan and his cronies came in.

Got into during Black Scorpion (dammit I liked) you had Sting, Flair, Funk, Muta

91-92 took a hit with losing Flair, but Dangerous Alliance were still pretty based

93-94 Flair returns, Vader, Cactus. loved this era

95 Hogan shows up and WCW loses it's individual charm
>>
>>3095953
No, it wasn't.
>>
>>3098001
I'm not an expert on anything, but other than the Dangerous Alliance and an okay Sting/Cactus Jack feud, it wasn't great. Business was bad at that point, too.
>>
May 96-Dec 97 was my favorite span in WCW. Popularity wise though I'd say May 96 - Spring of 99.
>>
>>3095953

Invasion of Hall and Nash (mid 1996) to Starrcade '97.
>>
>>3099665
>forgetting the Based Van Vader
>>
>>3095953
golden age was Bash at the Beach 96 up until Starrcade 97

92-93 Missy Hyatt was eo hot back then. Certainly a reason to watch WCW programming.
