Would savage have succeeded in today's WWE?
>>
No.
>>
>>3095246
From a wrestling standpoint, yes. Savage was a pioneer of the spotfest, kickout spam wrestling you all hate so much. From a character standpoint, depends on if he was that character or not. He'd succeed as an oddity, cutting his promos the way he did with that voice and those wild gestures. His intensity would probably still captivate people the same way it did back then.
>>
>>3095246
Easily. Way way way ahead of his time in every department. Check out his ICW and Memphis, Puerto Rico stuff before he ever made it to WWE. He was diving off top of cages, pildriving ppl through tables, athletic as fuck, charismatic as hell, intensity off the charts.

Him and Michael Jackson departed the world at exactly the perfect time to not have to witness and be traumatized by the filth of this decade.

WWE could use some shit like this these days. They don't cut promos like this anymore.

Name one time he drew a dime when not being carried by a bigger name

"Janetty" is an overused term but its actually appropriate here, he was always living in Hogan's shadow
>>
>>3095334
Savage sold out house shows for months as a heel champion, which was unheard of in those days. At a time when Hogan was only showing up for TV, Savage was literally carrying the company. He was the de facto #2 guy of the late 80s behind Hogan.

I think he'd do very well if he could just be the same guy he was. If he was legit a young dude coming up now they'd probably make him a literal retard like Eugene/Bayley or as half of a shitty tag team with Rich Swann called Salt and Pepper or something gay like that.

Wrestling Observer [May 2011]
“Savage & Elizabeth became the company’s top stars, & Savage’s title defenses against Ted DiBiase did the biggest post-WrestleMania business in the history of the company, at a time when the prevailing belief was the normal post-Mania decline would be greater than usual with Hogan not around.” - Dave Meltzer

Fighting Spirit [March 2013]
“You know, he's the only guy we could pass the belt to, & we wouldn't lose money. You gave the belt to Ultimate Warrior & right away the revenue went down. Give the belt to Macho Man, & things would stay the same, or get better.” - Hulk Hogan

Improve your knowledge you fucking dipshit.
>>
>>3095416
Savage was way too alpha and intense. Your belief wouldn't happen.
>>
>>3095246
Nope, too tanned and roided out, can't cut a psychological promo style (coked-out shouting doesn't cut it anymore in the post-Wyatt era) and his planned-out wrestling style wouldn't mesh well with the improv focused artisan wrestlers of today such as Antonio Cesaro
>>
>>3095334
No, you're still overusing it.
A Jannetty doesn't ever win world titles or enjoys stints in the main event.
>>
>>3095246
Nobody can get over in 2017, he probably wouldn't be an exception

Savage was one of a kind special unique talent. Talent was better during his heyday.
Savage would have taken Cena's spot off him.

He ran a (literal) outlaw promotion with his dad. He'd probably do the same thing, and go to Japan, and eventually come in at like 35 under a good deal with his own name and gimmick under his control.

So you just watched WM7 for the first time?

y'all would despise him

>>3095333
That's because he wasn't handed a script with Vince ordering him to deliver it an exact way.

>>3095334
Wow If you really think this you might need to commit seppuku in front of your loved ones.

Considering Macho Man is a cultural icon I would say yes, jesus fucking christ.

No steroids means he wont be near as physically imposing.

No coke means he won't be capable of performing with as much drugged out charisma.

No freedom on the mic means what he has to say will be incredibly limited.

A significantly higher work demand means not as much time to rehearse matches which he loves to do and he would find himself often working on the fly and improvising which he hates.

Smarks wouldn't accept him because he'd be coming from a baseball career rather than some indy fed

Vince would hate him because he'd think he's not attractive enough to be with Elizabeth, vince would probably hate his gear and make him a dancer or something.

He'd be in his 30s in his debut to WWE so they probably wouldn't waste their time with long term booking to his character over some already established main eventers and indy darlings.

A Randy Savage premiering in today's WWE would flop hard, as would a Hogan, a Ultimate Warrior, an Undertaker, and an Andre.

Hart would make it in 2017 WWE as would Backlund.
Iron Sheik could PROBABLY make it if the audience doesn't get too sensitive though they probably would...also he would undoubtedly have to go through BMJ at some point
>>
>>3097731
>no steroids
They're on steroids
>no coke
They can do all the coke they want
>No freedom on the mic
He didn't have freedom on the mic for slim jim commercials or the spider-man movie and everybody knows those lines
>muh workrate
kys
>as would Warrior, Hogan, Andre

lol, you're a fucking idiot

>Taker

yeah maybe
>>
>>3097741
>a noobie getting away with steroids and coke in 2017 WWE
you feeling ok, anon?

you are comparing blurting a catch phrase and cheesing out in a blockbuster to the sterile and uninspired scripts in WWE writing.

Also Bonecrusher was taking advantage of Savage's wrestling persona anyway and Slim Jim was literally just Savage when he was already at his peak.

And you are insane if you think for a second Warrior and Hogan would get over a significantly smarter and snarkier 2017 crowd. their best bet would be to get pockets of popularity through memes.

Andre would be absolutely fucked since he'd just be a Khali without the ability to bring in an extremely large foreign fanbase.
At best he'd probably tag with BEEG and at worst he'd get moved over by BEEG or buried in the attempt to see if Cena could lift him
>>
>>3097759
lol you cannot be serious
>>
>>3095428
>Too Tanned
Vince seems to only like either Full blown all American WASP look of Hogan and Cena and Lex or The Mixed Black look of The Rock and Roman Reigns
>>
>>3097902
Hogan and Reigns are both Italian
Hogan must've been the one to tell Vince "this is the guy"
>>
>>3095246
>Would savage have succeeded in today's WWE?

No one succeeds in today's WWE, so no.
