I am watching the 2007 G1 Final and Jesus Christ. They have people in attendance but most of them don't give much of a shit. Tanahashi is absolutely killing it and the crowd is still lukewarm as hell. I think I read somewhere that they were giving out a lot of free tickets at the time.

Razor was doing some amazing character work in 94. Stupid, sure, but amazingly entertaining.

95 was WWE's worst year critically, and probably financially too. Diesel was champ and the horrible gimmicks were having their last, desperate gasp. Like today, Vince was laying everything out to try and appeal to kids, but in the worst way possible: by literally turning the WWF into a Saturday morning cartoon. House shows were a ghost town and the PPVs were mostly garbage. Mostly. Fucking Mabel and Luger, man.

Probably 2005 for NJPW. It was fucking horrible, half-assed attempts at real MMA shit sprinkled with bad wrestling and no good characters. Tanahashi was off learning, Shibata had left the company, Nakamura was straight trying to MMA in the ring, and the rest of the "stars" were just boring and/or beating the shit out of each other in front of dead crowds, and there was nothing really worth watching. Think that was the year Meltzer called NJPW the worst promotion of the year.
